Age, PCT and losing gains.

After my last cycle which was 14 weeks of test(250 mgs every 5 days) and 8 weeks of winny, I did your basic clomid/nolva PCT. I have HCG on hand but decided not to use it this go.

I looked the best I have looked in my life at the age of 38, the thing is I lost a lot post cycle, prolly 50% of the mass I gained.

Am I correct to assume that at the age of 39 my body does not make as much Test as it did in my younger days and this is the reason It is harder for me to maintain muscle mass?

I'm seriously thinking of staying ON for good.

Anyone else have similair experiences or advise?

TIA

I'm your age and use HCG the first 2 weeks of PCT then ramp and dwindle down the clomid and nolva . I don't really lose muscle but instead water mass. I look sharper coming off than on. Strength stays roughly 80% of on but I can actually gain weight if I use the HCG along with clomid and nolva at the same time. But go off 100% everything and I'm the incredible shrinking man. Age does play a factor and I would advise using a shorter ester like prop instead of Test E. It is much easier to come off and recover.

I'm 42 myself and thought many times of just staying on low doses of test between full cycles. I do have low test levels when not on cycle. (I'm not talking just between cycles) I had been off cycle for over two years and got checked out. The fact of the matter is I sometimes feel like being on year long because I feel better physically and emotionally when on. I do not want kids and have no plans on having them so that worry is out of the way. The only thing I think about doing that would be maybe burning the receptors out? Would switching off esters of test stop this from happening?

You said it right there my man. I'd definately go on HRT.

There is no such thing as "burning the receptors out," so you have no worries in that regard.

I plan to be on all the time after 45. I'm 43 now and just got back into it. Heavy short cycles for the next 2 years then on 250 test att with an occasional (once a year, 14 weeks) cycle of Eq and/or primo. Also near constant proviron.

No. You're only partially correct. What is more a factor is that you have accumulated enough mature muscle over the years that you're near your genetic limit. So without the AS altering your gene activity to hold the muscle on past that limit, you'll lose it.

It's like this. Test creates a certain gene activity that results in protein synthesis. Now, when you cycle you take WAY more test than is normally present and that gene activity changes accordingly and you THAT is how you increase protein synthesis. So in a sense adding that extra test during the cycle is actually changing your genetics to allow you to hold more mass and of course increasing protein synthesis.

I seemed to slam into a wall when I hit 48 and begain losing a higher percentage of my gains when I went off. I was still bigger than when I started cycling 15 years ago, but have difficulting retaining any new gain. I essentially lose gains from any new cycle, so am now on year round.

Frankly, at my age I don't give a fuck about being huge but, as starskuler pointed out, we all tend to feel so much better when on.
