adult add... your thoughts?

i've known adults that obviously had ADD. i've also known adults that were just too stupid to hold a conversation but would've been misdiagnosed as having ADD.

the real question to ask is - is this something that we've created, or is it something we're just discovering that more and more people have?

anyone can fake the test for ADD. i've heard college kids talk about the test their doctor gave them and they were telling each other how to answer in order to get drugs for ADD and have mommy and daddy's cover the cost.

i honestly don't think ADD is as widespread as we think. more people are trying to get legal amphetamines to either use themselves or sell for cash, so they're faking ADD symptoms in order to slip it right past their doctor. then most doctors don't give a shit because they're getting paid regardless, so they perscribe the drugs and send you on your merry way.

the end result is that parents who's children really do have ADD or HADD get blasted for wanting to just drug their kids up in order to solve the problem of inefficient parenting.

Either Ritalin or Adderall can be prescribed for adult add.

Ritalin can also double as a pick me up party drug when snorted.

so can Strattera. the difference with Strattera is it's not an amphetamine, so no speed like side effect. also, you won't build a tolerance to Strattera like you will with ritalin or adderall.

thought I had it. don't. couldn't tell you about stretara.

Ok, seriously. It is really a disease. My oldest son has it, and they say its genetic. he almost failed the 6th grade because the teachers were calling him lazy....I didnt know what to do but when his midterm for his last 6weeks came in, i just took him to the dr and handed her the grades and I said i dont know what else to do...we grounded him, we beat the crap out of him, we took everything we knew to take a way from him....this kid was bringing home D's and F's nothing above it.
She explained it like this to me
He knows how to do it in his head, but he has trouble getting it from his head to his hands to write it down. It is a disease,
I sometimes have that problem....ok i have it all the time. I am scatterbrained, ask hammy. he gets sooooooo mad at me because I cant read simple directions. Im not taking meds for it tho, and I wont. I guess thats just me. I get confused on simple numbers I cant balance my checkbook. I actually feel stupid sometimes. His dads not like that, so he got the crap from me
