I sometimes have that problem....ok i have it all the time. I am scatterbrained, ask hammy. he gets sooooooo mad at me because I cant read simple directions. Im not taking meds for it tho, and I wont. I guess thats just me. I get confused on simple numbers I cant balance my checkbook. I actually feel stupid sometimes. His dads not like that, so he got the crap from me

gee Klueles, i would've never guessed all that had you not typed it out for us ;)

although the reading simple directions and balancing a checkbook, well, you can't do those because you're a woman. ADD plays no part in that flaw of yours.

Having adult ADD isn't a black and white kind of thing, there are many levels of adult ADD. Some people only have minor symptoms and don't need drugs, just therapy and a little counseling. Others have some or all of the major symptoms (misplacing things, trouble with numbers, hyperactivity or extreme laziness, wild mood swings, etc.) and do need to be medicated to deal with it. ADD is a chemical imbalance in the brain, but it's not a yes or no imbalance, there are degrees of it.

I do believe that many doctors are too eager to diagnose people with adult ADD today, some people may have some minor symptoms and it's just their personality that makes them seem that way, especially when they have no family history of ADD.

same goes with mental disorders. there are no clear cut lines but many varying degrees.

one of the ways to help children with HADD, even if they can't read, is to put signs around your house as reminders. they'll see the sign and it will trigger the thought of "what does that mean?" this can even be used for simple things such as running in the house, reminders not to inturrupt, pretty much the stuff that you have to tell an HADD child 50,000 times and they still don't listen.
