Hey there, after some more research I think that I may have two separate problems that look like one problem....
Damage to main Test producers (Testes) results in low T, combined with a propensity towards Estro build up results in Low T and even Lower Free T: Problem 1
Genetic predisposition and stressful lifestyle resulted in adrenal fatigue that went undiagnosed like the low T above: Problem 2
Now, I have sorted the low T and high E with appropriate medications, but no improvement to quality of life or body composition has been noted...
Therefore next step is to sort out low cortisol levels firstly and then to support adrenals to allow them to repair and regenerate.
Following on from research my best bet would be the following
1) Increase cortisol levels by using 20mg Hydrocortisone a day in order to allow the body to tolerate the normal levels of thyroid function (this should help with coping of stressors of everyday life and to increase energy levels, may have an effect on energy partitioning and thus aid with body recomposition) (Have been using liquorice extract @ 500mg 2x day in order to prevent leaching of endogenous cortisol, but it does not work as I simply do not have enough endogenous cortisol) (20mg is apparantly a sub-physiological replacement dose)
2) Make use of adrenal cytotrophin to support adrenals and let them repair whilst they are resting due to exogenous cortisol application (as per musclemom, thanks dudette)
3)Restart use of progesterone cream, DHEA and Pregnenolone to allow adrenals further rest time by not having to produce this hormone
4)Supplement with the list of items given by power36 above (due to cost, will concentrate on: Omega3's, Vit C, E and B group, Magnesium, Calcium, Zinc and Ashwagandha) (thanks dude)
5)Limiting use of processed foods (especially carbs) to one/two meals a week (on the same day)
6)Taking up to 5 meals a day each with protein, so intermittent fasting for body recomp is out for the moment (apparently this is VERY important for the adrenals?)
I have pretty much been doing the above with the exception of the exogenous cortisol and the adrenal cytotrophins, perhaps these two items are the missing keys to my feeling better?
As far as I can see this pretty much covers all the bases?? Any comebacks?
Opinions and advice, as always are very welcome.
Blessings
H
BTW, I am wondering if the fact that my adrenals cannot cope with normal thyroid function is not the cause of my extreme insulin readings...Possible?
