I wa havig some prolems about 6 months ago.My doacor gave ne xanax, ithen went to another doctor and got valliun.IF I dont have them constantly I get sick.Has ayone gone throuh this and got off by themselves.Thank You

yeah bro, I still fight the addiction everyday. (I have been clean for 4 months)

The truth is xanax and valium are one of the most addictive drugs out there, and if you dont stop it fast you might never be able to quit.

I was addicted to them for about 4 years and when I didnt have them I went crazy. When I came off of them I had withdrawl like symptoms for about 1-2 months and it was horrible.

Bottom line, barbituates have no place in BB at all, so you better quit while you can, bro.
It sucks at first but you'll thank me later.

Good luck bro

that sucks man. I have no idea.

Try tapering the dosage to zero after a few weeks and see if that works.

these fucking doctors. I know a kid on so many pills for depression and he cant get off them. They make him change medications every 3 months or so too. I'm honistly better off using AS the rest of my life than being stuck on those drugs.

Welcome to the world of drug addiction. People mistake drug addiction and alcholism for lack of mental control, which is totally inaccurate. It's no mistake that the AMA (American Medical Association) classified it as a disease in the late 70's. I've had to wrestle with my own demons in the past. The only solution I found was complete abstinence via detox then AA. That was 3 and a half years ago. Pills are a motherfucker to quit. Good luck. At least you acknowledge there's a problem. That's the first step so to speak.

Looks like they don't help your spelling either. How many bars of
Xavax did you have before posting this? Lol.

Yep, doctors prescribe that shit left and right... but let's keep those awful steroids banned. Our society would crumble and people would ruin their lives if we had legal anabolics.

I highly recommend that you seek some profesional help with this. Those things are VERY hard to get off of. Benzo addiction is one of the worst. Search for a good addiction board. YOu will get all the information that you need

Back to the original post, seek professional help bro and good luck.

Seroquel, will get you off them. They are addictive, and my doc put me on a low dose of this drug. It knocks me out!

I would like to add that when I was trying to get off of these TAPERING IS NOT AN OPTION. Atleast with me anyway.

Once you eat 2-4mg of xanax, you will lose some memory and control and most likely go eat 5 more.
Then you wake up the next morning wondering where all your pills went.

I had to go cold-turkey. Once I ate 1 or 2, Id say what the hell I'll quit tomorrow, and eat 5 more.

Xanax and Valium are one of the hardest things to taper.

BTW, if you are drinking with these stop, as it just enhances the affects, hence making you like it more, or giving you greater addiction.

Stay strong bro.

Talk to your doc and have him put you on a weaning schedule. You shoulnt stop it by yourself cuz you could die from withdrawal. It is also a good idea to have good family support while you go through this. They shouldnt leave you for a second. If not....then ask to get into a rehab hospital/center where the nurse wont leave you for a second. Did you see the Sopranos episode where Christian went into a drug rehab center? If he can do it, anyone can...lol.

Bro, correct me if I am wrong.

I went through this for years, and I dont think you can die from a
barbituatal(pill) withdraw.

Sure it is painful, but death?

First off, xanax and valium are benzos, not barbiturates. Benzos are supposedly safer. But anyway, the withdrawal picture is basically the same....your body gets so "overstimulated" due to the removal of the drug that you can suffer a stroke, heart attack, seizure, suicidal tendency, and lots more stuff. So yes, you can die either directly or indirectly. The actual withdrawal is different for everyone and has alot to do with the amount of drug being taken and then stopped.

I knew you'd rub my face in it...LOL:p :D :p

Hey,
I was on Klonopin which is a different type of benzo for about 2 years.I used a tapering method to get off of them.It has to be a slow process if you are really fucked up but hang in there.I settled at a 2 mg dose, then started the taper from there. Each month I used a pill cutter to adjust the doseage each month....Went something like this
Month 1....2 mg
month 2....1.75 mg
month 3....1.50 mg
month 4....1.25 mg
month 5....1 mg
month 6....0.75 mg
month 7....0.5 mg
month 8....0.25 mg
month 9...completely free of addiction

Although it took a long time,it's what worked for me.You have to get on a longer acting benzo like klonopin or valium. With Xanax there is a shitload of rebound anxiety involved.

These are addicting drugs but you can get off them.It will take some patience and tweaking your tapering to your needs.Altough you might hear stories of cold turkey,I wouldnt suggest it as very bad things could happen.

It is amazing Benzo's are schedule 4 drugs and steroids are schedule 3..that blows my mind.

You could also use Remeron,Benadryl or Trazodone to help sleep while adjusting to the withdrawl.Seroquel is an anti-psychotic and although it does knock your as out there are a few more sides associated with it.

They're benzos, not barbiturates. And you can't stop them cold turkey if you've been on them for a while, even as low as 1 month (at least not without having withdrawal Sx's).

Bottom line is that you have to taper off of them. Its not a matter of will power!

Taper like this.......decrease CURRENT doses by 10-20% q3-7d. In your case I would say to try q7. You may have to slpit the tabs into quarters to follow this properly, or get Rx's for a number of strengths.

That's what you have to do......Good luck man.......and don't even bother trying to stop them cold turkey, you MUST taper.

Later.

i agree with the taper idea, however often times after a duration of dependance this really is not an option, the only real option is a controlled environment with people that can help you (detox) years ago i went down this road myself, different drugs but it really doesnt matter, just remember it can and will get better, be strong and good luck to you bro.

No shit.

Watson that was a real asshole thing to say. Obviously you've never struggled with addictions problems. I gaurantee you'd have a different prespective on it if you did.

good luck bro, at least you are seeing the problem, i've fought some problems myself, cocaine being the main one that grabbed my life and damn near destroyed it. Good luck bro, stay strong, getting in the gym and getting my body back in shape helped me the most, realizing that my physical appearance heightened my mental state, made me slowly get back to life!!!! I wish you the best

bro its easy to kick it if you do it right first go tell your doc and ask for a script for an antipsyhotic i recomend seraquel this will ahve the same effect, somnolence of the valium without the addictive properties it may knock your ass out at first but after a few days the doc will adjsut the dose and you will be may use it in conjunction with vlaium ot get off it and ten stay off and never go back, most neuroleptics woudl work great in this instnace

I couldn't agree more !

This is crazy shit, I'll never ever touch valium, I'll keep the weed for insomnia if needed.

Keep us posted !

I have serious insomnia problems and have been prescribed the entire spectrum of benzos and anti-psychotics over the last few years. ( Ambien,Valium,Xanax,Remeron,Trazadone,Seroquel, Versed, Ativan,)

I can tell you that of all drugs that I have done, and there are many, benzos are the toughest to stop and have the most symptoms associated with them.

Valium, Xanax,Versed,Ambien... Especially, the latter 2 can become VERY addictive. They are very fast acting, hitting the receptor quickly and causing a lot of unwanted side effects. They also have a lot of hypnotic type effects so it is very easy to forget how many you have taken, there have been many days when I get my 10 mg ambien refilled (60 at a time) and wake up the next day with 20-30 of them gone.. I literally thought that my wife was taking them for a while, but then realized that after I took about 5, the rest were just for sport and I couldnt remember it.

Let me preface this by saying that my circumstances are not common and my consumption levels are extremely atypical...
But I doubt that there has been a day over the last 2 years that I have not taken at least 30 mg of Ambien at night to sleep. In conjunction, I also take Xanax for anxiety..

I have taken as much as 350 mg of Ambien in a 24 hour period and it was not uncommon for me to eat 20 mg of Xanax in 24 hours. Needless to say, the repercussions have been excruciating, my health has failed miserably during this time, with symptoms ranging from extreme weight gain, to severe memory loss ( sometimes days at a time) to renal, cardiac and liver damage.

I started off just taking 10 mg of Ambien at night to sleep and progressed from there...

Good luck and cut that shit off before it is too late. Its not too cool to forget entire days and sometimes weeks of life. Honestly, I cannot remember the last time that I had a clear thought, I think that I have been mostly zombified by this shit for the last 2 years.

All things said have been true. The best sign is that you realize the need to stop.

BASICALLY, these are the 2 things that will most likely happen to you, and which you decide is up to you:

1. You will not stop and eventually you will die from some complication, but suffer in depression and anxiety for a long time before the peace that death inevitably brings.

2. You will seek help and suffer for a short while, recuperate and then have a new lease on life. Asking for help makes me optimistic that you will take door #2.
