ACL surgery complete

Doc said that all my cartlidge and meniscus looked great!

I thank the Lord for this b/c cartlidge and miniscus damage is usually what causes pain years later---leading to arthritus.

Doc said that he cut a 11mm graft to replace it instead of the usuall 10 mm graft.

I am sure glad it is over and psyched for rehab.

Thank you Jesus!

u gonna go back to playig whatever it is that made u hav the injury (american football right?)

:lmao: yeah--- I will race you with one leg tied behind my back!

seriously though my little brother is getting a little bolder now that he knows i cant get up very quick. lol

thanks nb

what's your range of motion like? getting that back is supposedly a bitch, busting through all that scar tissue and all.

what kind of pain meds did they give you?

and how did you hurt your knee again?

I hurt my knee playing minor league football on july 6th. I play right tackle and we were running a sweep to the right and I hooked the DE and was running out in the flat to get another block when out WR was thrown into my knee by the CB that he was blocking--I was on a full run and there was nothing that i could do about it--the pain was not ecscruciating so i taped it up and finished the last three quarters of the game with it hurt--only to find out the next week that I tore my ACL/

my range of motion right now without the CPM is about 25degrees

with the CPM it is about 70 degrees---The CPM is a device that you lay your leg on and set it to a certain percentage and it bends at the knee slowly---up and down--continuously
It prevents much of the scar tissue from forming.

I need to have 90 degrees by tuesday

I am currently taking Lortabs or HydraCodine and it works quite nicely. I havent really needed any today though--but I did on friday--the day of the sergery.

nobody ever tells me that my meniscus looks great.

hope your recovery is painless and fast.

I also hope that nobody kicks you on the side of the knee.

Glad to hear it went well. Bust ass in rehab and you'll good as new. I blew my ACL playing football also, just finished rehab two month ago, no complaints, legs are stronger than ever. It'll be over before ya know it. :fro:

just keep a golf club near your bed for when your bro comes in :D

I had my ACL done four years ago, I tore the ACL,MCL and meniscus. I developed a bad case of tendonitis which occasionally recurs. It took about two years before I could cut left or right without feeling my knee 'give' a little. It also took over a year before I could squat heavy with perfect form. It's really important to keep working on the ROM, I was lucky enough to have 90 degrees 24 hours after the surgery from the PT bending my knee. It took about three weeks for complete recovery of my ROM.

thanks strider, happy, and JavaGuru

LMAO@dannielson

JavaGuru--that sounds like a real bitch-did the doctor say why you got tendenitus? Was it b/c you tried to get your ROM back too quick?

I am cruising at 60 degrees as I wright this post--taking it slow
My surgery was friday morning at 10

to be honest I havent really tested that end of it--my doctor didnt mention to hit it hard yet

i have an appointment in a week

i talked to a buddy who has had two of these and he said to wait until swelling goes down

They had me doing extension exercise the day of the damn surgury! I though it was a little strange, but I'm no worse for the wear.

I got the tendonitis from pushing myself hard through the whole rehabilitation and not backing off. In hindsight it would have been better to ease off a bit when I felt the first signs.

Glad to hear your healing up bro. You may remember my post recently about my ACL/PCL. Well no surgery for me. I feel I'm past the age of needing it and can just strengthen my quads and wear a brace. However, being a physician asst, I assist on this procedure all the time, so if you have any rehab questions, dont hesitate to ask.
