accutane

been breaking out on my face. cystic acne, went away for a bit, but its not totally and now they're coming back. i spoke with my doctor and he says my insurance wont cover it because it's a "cosmetic" medicine. meaning it's not necessary. any help would be apprexciated

bummer man. if you're just looking for something besides accutane i would try any product with salicylic acid in it. personally i use clean & clear advantage acne clearing astringent. the higher percentage of salicylic acid the better. idk if this brand is the best or not it's just what i use and it definitely helps if you catch them as they're forming. i just get a cotton swab and go over my whole face at night. anything that shows up i just put some vanishing cream on.

you can't stop everything but washing your face thoroughly twice daily and using this stuff will help fo sho.

edit: estrogen is a factor for acne so make sure you are using an ai. maybe up the dose a tad and see if that helps also.

i have used salycic acid and 10% benzoyl peroxide before. even tried that proactive crap, and nothing. ive been taking 1mg of adex everyday. ill up it to 2mg and see what happens

in that case you might want to check out one of EF's sponsors 4rx.com. i'm pretty sure they got something for you.

I hate to tell ya this bro, but accutane is the only way to go for recurring acne. Get it elsewhere if your insurance won't cover it. I used it a few years ago cuz everytime I was natty my shoulders and upper back would break out(I know it's odd that I break out when off, but I'm strange anyway...:)). My mom had the same probs at her age and took accutane also. It never came back. Definitely worth using.

Killing off too much estrogen with adex wont help either imo, because if the test cant convert to estro it will convert to dht at a higher rate, and dht is just as bad at given you acne if not worse.
just find a online pharm and get accutane, it works, the side affects are nothing compared to having painful cysts on your face!
check out the site sponsors, they stock it i believe plus you get a mad ef discount!

i will check out the sponsor site. thanks bro

Be sure to read up on accutane b4 using it bro...just be aware of what it does to your body and you'll be fine. You don't wanna drink when using it, and it makes you sensitive to the sun. That's just a couple things to be aware of. Like mak said tho, it works...and its available on research sites

I really wanna get on accutane. My doctor told me if we can prove the antibiotics and creams don' work then a dermatologist will be more inclined to put me on it. I was just thinking about ordering it from a sponsor because I read up on the risks and it didn't seem too bad but he scared the shit out of me tellin me how it'll dry my lips and eyes out and all this crazy shit.

It was covered by my insurance. It was funny though cuz you only have a small window to renew the script and pick it up. They're very tight with it.

Fortunatly being in the UK I got Roaccutane (the brand of accutane) on the NHS so I was getting 3 month prescriptions for £4.70 a go!

Hope the following helps a little. I'm writting it cos I had major problems with acne and it destroyed my confidence for over 10 years. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Most doctors/GPs are not keen on accutane cos there are a lot of side effects and it is a last resort, like so many others I had to try all sorts of useless crap before being transferred to a dermatologist. Within the 1st minute he was in the process of arranging a blood test to ensure I was ok for accutane. I started on 40mg but went up to the max of 80mg which was when the side effects kicked in:

Sensitive to bright light
Tracers in the eyes (but nothing major)
VERY VERY VERY dry skin, especially on my face.
Nose bleeds (2 a day on average)

That was it for me but there is also depression and liver issues but I found it impossible to be depressed cos I was so happy my acne was going.

I also did a lot of research and found that you can buy via internet sites, although would not like to vouch for any of them.

I took it about 6 years ago now, not one spot since.

i go a hold of a place to get accutane. i dont drink anymore so that shouldnt be a problem, and im barely outside, so the sun wont be a problem either. and wonter's coming so it ownt be that sunny,
