ACCUTANE question

The Darkness

New member
Hi bros

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes:

I want to know if there is any kind of problem with taking Accutane and protein shakes?

I'm on 70mg/day an currently on my 8th day, I AM NOT ON AS. I weigh 205lbs.

My doc said they dont do a blood test anymore half way though because experience has shown that the levels dont really increase enough to warrant it, but I am wondering about the protein shakes. He just said avoid high cholestrol foods, so therefore wouldnt protein shakes and say NLARGE2 be ok?

Also how long does it take to see this stuff kick in?

Thanks guys

many, many years ago when i went on accutane, it was just coming out. i was on it for 3 months, with blood work every two weeks to determine if treatment could continue-- based on tricl. levels. no alcohol. none. and for me it kicked in right away. in fact, my face exploded with more acne than i ever thought possible. then gradually cleared up. i have not had a problem since then. if you are in the states, carry some Carmex with you for your lips.... oh, and, i shouldn't forget... depending on your dosage and length of therapy, note that ALL your skin will dry out-- ALL of it subject to cracking and bleeding. keep also very stocked up on Lubriderm.....

enjoy.

i really do not want to worry you... but since your doctor is not testing your blood, did your doctor also advise you of the many studies indicating a trend of long term mental health damage related to accutane? major depression and suicide? check the web on this, and talk to your doctor. i would not fuck around with this stuff. but i am also very glad i took it to clear up years of agonising acne. good luck.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate the info

My Dr did not tell me about long term mental health issues, but it did mention this in the paper I got with the drug. But it says that all these symptoms go away once you finish the course.

Ive noticed I feel abit different on it, like slightly lack of motivation to do stuff, also my sex drive seems to be effected? Is this normal? Ive really been considering today if its really worth the risk, especially since the lack of sex drive kicked in.

Thanks alot for your time man

You are totally safe to use accutane with your protein bro, ive done a lot of accutane myself over the years and yes it is strong but if you use it correctly then you wont have a problem, I use it now every steroid cycle that I run, I use 20mg ed or eod.

good questions. i hope there are some others around that will provide you some experience as well.

i guess my question would be, do you really need the accutane? do you have a serious problem, or an inconvenience? if you have a real problem, accutane solved years of real misery. but it was a bitch but also a blessing-- for me.

i do not remember mood or sex drive alterations. i do know that as everything really starts to dry out, and it will after a couple weeks, your dick is also going to dry out. hence, keep good moisturisers around. you are going to need them. (good idea to put some near the toilet too!)

i would consult some fora on the internet on accutane regarding mental health issues. the studies that are being done indicate this drug potentially has a long-term (permanenet) affect on mental health. i've only recently heard abou this aspect.

like with many things spoken about on this site, know the facts before you start "any" cycles...

knowledge it power!

Thanks for both of your replies!! I'll keep up the protein shakes, albeit I am on a much higher dose. I was told to avoid any vitamin A supplementation, and was worried that this might be in a protein shake as they sometimes are, but I cant find any in the NLARGE2 I take.

I'll have a look on the net about the mental health issue you mentioned.

As far as do I need it? I would say that I had it severe years ago but it has SLOWLY been improving over the years to the point that now its not SO bad, just very annoying, my girlfriend said she didnt think I needed it (she went on it when she was 18) I am 27.

I think I chose to go on it because I had had it for so long and it became so damn annoying.

I wouldnt say it was severe now, it used to be but not so now. Maybe the risk of sides is not worth the gains. Im starting to have my doubts man I have to admit.

Did anyone experience sex drive issues?

Thanks again!

accutane is no fun my man. I was on it for like 3 months because I too had a MAJOR PROBLEM with acne/zits. Man accutane worked but it sucked while on it. Lips about chapped off my face...use the lip balm.

My back was sore and stiff all the time...couldn't run very well at all. It affected my muscles a bit I mean.

Your skin will definately dry up too.

It's worth it man but you just have to pay a price. I had to get the blood work done every so often too. Checkin the triglycerides. guess they don't do that anymore. good luck to you
