Anyone here develop keloid scars as a result from using accutane? I'm a little worried about this. I don't have any keloids but I've read that accutane could cause this type of scarring.

take care of it now asap. retin a / accutane. believe me me QV deca 300 left me with them on my back shoulders and and the middle of my chest. they itch and are not exactly pretty. ive heard of exreme treatmenst as far as to go to: getting some hydrocortisone(not sure if it was hydro) shots directly into them/ chemical peels/ or just plain surgery.
it really gets embarrassing when you want to take your shirt off and cant casue of scarring. you must be a darker skin guy.
keloids in regards to acne is he pimple healing to quick or not fast enough, i cant rememer, but collagen raises over the pimple.
ya they suck...i have a few..... the best bet is wait till your off accutane and then use some retin A micro for the minor scaring (dont use retin A and accutane togather since it may cuase too much dryness etc)
or if u have some cash go see a specialist and see about laser treatment.... u have to wait 6 months after u finish accutane in order to do this since the accutane weakens your skin and the laser treatment could cause even more scaring
A keloid is a raised scar. It comes from overactive collagen deposition during the healing process. It can impact scars from trauma or scars from acne (like you read here). In trauma keloids, it makes a raised, purplish snake-like thing, like a fleshy mound 1/2 inch above the skin. Black people get keloids more than other racial groups. I was not aware that accutane caused keloid formation. I would suspect there is more information already available on why accutane causes keloid and why certain people keloid more than others.
When I was 20 years old (way before I even considered using AAS) I was hit with acne BAD. I had a little facial acne during my teenage years... but it was subtle. Anyways... my Doctor prescribed several months of Accutane therapy: 16 weeks at 80mg/ED. I experienced no scarring what-so-ever. It completely changed the structure of my skin... my pores seemed to disappear. That was close to 15 years ago. I've had no problem with facial acne since. Every now and then I'll get a zit here and there... or a nice heater on my chest or back. But the results I experienced with Accutane were nothing short of miraculous.

glad it seemed to work for you. when you were taking accutane did u break out right after starting it ? (some ppl get an intial reaction as it pushes the acne to the surface) also about how long till u saw results? just curious

Dude... my acne got really bad during the first two months of Accutane therapy. I was in the ArmedForces at the time... and I could barely wear my barret w/o being in extreme pain. So yeah... the circumstances you described above are true to the letter.
