ABSCESS IN THE SHOULDERS - Exp. Help Please

Hey Bros, I am a little freaked out. I noticed quite an abnormal lump in my right shoulder and a not so noticable one in my left. I always alternate injection sites. I was using these 2 combos in my shoulders (Fina+Winny, and Winny+Denastil). I went to the doc and it turns out I have an abscess in my right one. He pulled out some of it for testing to see if it is infected or not. He doesn't think so because there is no discolouration, but I have to wait for the lab results. I am going for ultrasound tomorrow to see exactly how big it is. He thinks and is hoping it is just below the skin surface, that way I won't have to get my shoulder peeled open for this shit. If it is only below the skin surface he said the surgeon will probably freeze the area and make a tiny (1cm) incission to drain it. He gave me some anti-biotics for now. Once I get the ultrasound I will go and see the plastic surgeon 2 weeks after. This is fucking up my life. It's summer and I am going away next week and I can't even wear a tank top I can't function properly just knowing it is there. Sometimes I even think that the abscess burst and I am starting to get a fever and infection symptoms, but I think that's just me being paranoid. Before I knew what it was I just kept on massaging it thinking it was just post injection soreness. Now that I know I don't even bother massaging it and it seems as if it is more sore. Should I keep massaging it or will that maybe spread it? Say they do this little incission to drain it how long do you think until I am back at the gym? What can I expect? Any one out there that's a doc or has this happen to them? Thanks for the help in advance.

How long has it been there? Did you use sterile injection procedure. Is that area red? Is it warm to the touch? Is it a hard or soft lump? So far, it sounds to me like you might be jumping the gun. I get lumps sometimes that last for a few days.

If it is not red and hot to the touch I would not worry to much..take some Augmentin and see what happens..I had an abcess on my ass and I knew there was trouble because of the hot red swelling and the fever I had.....GoOd luck to yoou bro

Been there for about 2.5 weeks before I went to the doc.. Bro it looks fucked up. I have naturally canonball shoulders, and then I have this golf ball size lump that is tender to the touch and has very little or no redeness. I always use an anti-septic before and after injection and single use ever needle. This is why the doc thinks it probably isn't an infection. He said it could also be a fatty or muscle that is concentrated in that area because of the frequent injections, but after he pulled some of the nasty shit that was in there he figured it probably was the abscess. I guess I will know after the ultra sound and lab test. I am just worried because it looks abnormal and I am going down south and won't be able to even wear a tank top never mind tan without a shirt. People who know their shit would be able to tell by looking at it, but to the average person they would think that I just have really, really big shoulders. And it's not even what other people think it's me knowing that it's there and how the fuck can I enjoy my vacation having to deal with this? Sorry for the ranting but I gotta let it out and get some feedback.

Damn, that is a long time to still have a lump. My only guess is that you have some foreign matter, possibly from the fina that got injected and is now inflamed. I wish you the best of luck.

That all depends on what is wrong. I had an abcess (my fault for being an idiot) in my thigh that had to be drained. the infection was in the muscle, so they had to make a fairly lagre incision. You also have to leave the wound open so that it can drain and doesn't become reinfected. (they won't stitch it up) I was laid up for a week with a bandage on my leg. I also went for I.V. antibiotics everyday. It's a tough lesson to learn. Doesn't sound like yours is near as bad, I couldn't walk after about the 3rd day.

Ahh shit man sorry to hear about that. This is exactily why I am hoping it isn't in the muscle, just uner the skin layer. This by the way doesn't make any sense because I inject 1inch intermuscularly in the shoulder. I guess I wasted a lot of juice in these abscesses.

dude I had the same thing(well what your describing anyway) but I was on sus and deca.

anyway mine was like that for about 3 weeks then I started to worie I went to my friend who is a nurse and she gave me some antibotics and told me to keep putting a heat pack on it..

well thats what I did and in about a week it was gone.

try to get the heated area hot as posable. then let it cool for a sec then the same thing.

Had the ultrasound today and the doc said it is a biuld up of blood and crap and the best way to describe it he says is that it is like cement. When it is mixed it is soft, but after a while it get hard and turns to concrete. Well the lump will solidify more but will eventually go away. He said there is nothing to suck out of it. This is good news, I won't have to get cut open The only thing is that it might take like 2 months to go away. Thanks for all the support guys. Peace.

fellas check this out. about 2 years ago jan. 99 i got an abcess on my throat(don't ask me how). anyways i had mad fevers for 3 days and extreme pain in my neck and traps(left side), the left side of my face also got swollen. i went to the ER and had 104 fever. i felt like shit the worst i've ever felt i also hadn't slept for 2 nights because of the pain. i needed surgery ASAP the felt like it could pop anytime. had surgey and was hospitalized for 15 days including post surgery 2 days in critical condition. i have a huge scar in my neck about 6 inches long. i also had a tube for draining throughout the 15 days. i ended up losing 25 pounds as they didn't let me eat anything for 4 days and couldn't even drink water or any liduids for 3 days. all the gave me was a stick with a sponge on the end that i could dip in ice and put it inside my mouth to refresh but wasn't allowed to swollow. all i have to say is that it was a pain in the ass and i'm glad yours wasn't as serious wouldn't wish it on an enemy!!!!!!!!!!!1

That's tough dude, actually my girlfriend had a lump in her throat as well about 5 years ago. It wasn't as critical as yours but appearently it was huge (I wasn't with her back then to see). She had it checked out and they drained with a large needle.
