? about memory sticks and the USB mouse

In the name of all that is holy, why do all (in my experience) memory sticks and even USB mouseses insert into the USB port "upside down" so that the side with the company logo/name is facing down??????????????

but my point is - why would they produce them like that? the logo or three-pronged thingy on the outside should not affect how it actually works, so they could easily flip-flop which side they are drawn on.

My point of view is from the company that actually slapped their logo the side of a piece of equipment that is going to be facing DOWN AT THE DESK for most of its life.
