Hey jenscats5,
I made a similar post to yours a few months ago and was told that I may have lordosis:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003278.htm#visualContent

check out the top, right picture. That is kind of how I look, too. I am a cyclist/triathlete and I think that the hunched over position while riding cntributes to this problem.

Here is a site with some stretches that I found that might help you:
http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/back/lowback/lordosis/execises.php

Someone also posted a lengthy reply about the 3 or 4 different pelvis types that women have, and how that affects the "shape" of their abs. Im sorry that I cannot find it but maybe someone else will chime in with a link for you.

I know hwo you feel about this - it really sucks!!! I am a lean and muscular athlete with about 13% BF and a six pack when I flex, yet if I wear a cropped top or bikini look like Im a few months pregnant from the side!!!!

I heard that too. It's not true.

actually it is. the more tone you can develop in the transverse abdominus the more of a "corset" type effect you will get. the transverse abdominus is activated by drawing in the navel towards the spine.

when doing the prone iso ab position or "plank" as it was referred to earlier, it is imperative that you have your navel drawn in, when it pops out...you lost control of said muscle.

Thanks for all the replies & discussion!! I will check out the sites. sorry for the reply delay, I was away this weekend in DC!! Thanks again!

I think we're reading the comment differently. You're talking about whether or not drawing in the abs helps to work them better. I read it as the old saw: "if you don't suck in your gut while you do crunches, you'll build 'bulky' abs."
