AAS and the heart

for the record winny recks havoc on the lipid profile and is liver toxic, less so of course as an injectable.

Agreed same molecular make up in either form, although I have heard the injectable form may not be as hard on the liver as pill form @ equal doses. I am not sure why the pills are harder on the liver, but I have heard this repeatedly.

Steroid use definitely has an effect on the heart. I know because I experienced it. I was diagnosed with cardiac myopathy end of last year. My ejection fraction had dropped down to 25%. I have been off steroids ofr 6 months now and my heart function has improved back to normal! I am not saying don't do steroids, just be careful and monitor your heart functions. Do an echo in the middle of the cycle and six months post cycle if you can. Remember, i am a light steroid user with absolutely no bodybuilding aspirations!

I agree. While not diagnosed with cardio myopathy, I used to get really bad palpitations when on. I went to a cardiologist and was diagnosed with pvc's and supraventricular tachycardia (sp). They also picked up the left ventrical thickness on echo, but the doc wasn't concerned since he haid he witnesses that in a number of athletes. I went off for a number of years, and my pvc's and svt's almost completely vanished...even though I was still training and snowboarding 40-50 days a year.

Recently I tried HRT, the cream from College pharmacY at 75mg a day, 50 in the am and 25 pm. I love it, no side, no palps etc. Two weeks ago I decided to dabble a bit and add 100mg of primo and 125 mg of sust every 5 days. Palpitations and svt came back within a week. I think initially it's the increase in the metabolic rate that stimulates the central nervous system and excites the heart....the one study mentions the rise in catacholomines;after that, I think it's the mass gain and heavier weights in the gym that contribute to the growth of the left ventricle. Whether or not that has negative long-term effects in people that aren't already pre-disposed to heart problems remains to be seen. I'm currenty on Swoles diet, so I'm really not looking to add any weight, just keep as much muscle as possible while getting leaner. nyway, I think everyone develops cardio myopathy to some degree on AAS, ot's the one's where the side effects are more pronounced that wind up getting it checked out.

Both forms are equally toxic, saying pills are more toxic is a mistake( that has been said repeatedly). They are absorbed differently, reach blood concentrations differently, orals suffer a first pass liver effect, but none of these factors alter the fact that each molecule of the drug will be metabolized by the liver.
Maybe there is a mixup with the old saying " orals are harder to the liver than injectable", obviously created to address the 17AAs x beta esterified, but it was not meant to address an injectable x an oral form of the same 17aa.
