AAS and the heart

juice...

read thread titled 'NELSON and a.m cardio enthusiasts'.

i think nelson may be up to something here.

If you´d like to read some interesting articles relating bodybuilding and AAS, I found this author that has many papers on it : Dickerman, RD. The twin brothers article is from him, too.
Some articles are not for free , either you are associated with El Sevier, Medline, Md consult ,etc...or the specific journal that the paper was published on.

RIO are you saying that if we lift with less intensity, less weight we are less at risk of devellopping an enlarged heart:rolleyes:

LOL, less weight...NEVER!!!!!!!!!

All I am saying is that the heart is a muscle, and it has an adaptative hypertrophy response to an increased work load .
You cannot expect that one´s heart stay the same as he goes from being 160lbs, 110/70mmHg BP squatting bodyweight to a 220lbs frame with BP getting to 260/140mmHg as he squats 400Lbs( aleatory numbers)...

Anyway, this was the conclusion from the authors of the study comparing ECHO between AAS users and non AAS users.

I think lw has a point though, if you don't lift as heavy your left ventricle won't get as big because you're not loading it as hard.

all i can say is wow, makes you think a little bit, thats the one muscle you really don't want to fuck with.-Josh

Steroids are only part of the picture but definitely a contributing factor....as the excess bodyweight is... and there is a degree of athletic enlargement due to exercise...but it still can be dangerous...I would say actual body weight is more a factor than the juice because as you cycled more and more would your heart not get bigger and bigger and bigger to a degree, cardiac muscle tissue and stimulation differ from smooth and skeletal muscle stimulation.... there are no free lunches we all pay for what we use and absuse in some way or form later on in life whether it be tobacco, alcohol x roids etc...
I would not lose sleep over it.

Steroid use definitely has an effect on the heart. I know because I experienced it. I was diagnosed with cardiac myopathy end of last year. My ejection fraction had dropped down to 25%. I have been off steroids ofr 6 months now and my heart function has improved back to normal! I am not saying don't do steroids, just be careful and monitor your heart functions. Do an echo in the middle of the cycle and six months post cycle if you can. Remember, i am a light steroid user with absolutely no bodybuilding aspirations!
