i received this PM. I won't say who its from, unless he wants to identify himself:

"Why do intelligent people like you and I bother with threads online by some **** asking boredom questions? Haven´t we better things to do? Are we so unmotivated and have we so little self-respect?
I waste my time and it´s caused by a lack of self appreciation and value. It´s self perpetuating that way too. I want to break free."​


So, my question to you is, why DO you all reply to stupid threads? I'm not talking about the ones where your input, advice, or encouragement is needed of course, but the ones that have no purpose at all. "what color is your ear wax?" or "I wish i had a toothpick".

I'm guilty of it too- and in my case, I probably reply out of boredom. or, i enjoy being obnoxious on here because in real life, i'm not really very obnoxious at all, just cynical and observant.

because sometimes somebody has said something funny and I have to show'em that I really Lmao; sometimes out of boredom; sometimes cause I need to say that its annoying

sometimes i do sometimes i don't. All depends on the mood im in, if im in a bitchy mood i'll more than likely say something obnoxious.... but then thats every day :evil:

Just out of boredom. Sometimes to be a wiseass. I will say I'm a little more resistant than I was when I first started posting in C&C.

What I find hilarious, is when the creators of these threads complain that 75% or 90% (I love it when they throw in a statistic) of the threads on C&C suck. Yet, conduct a thread search of the complainer, and I swear you will say, hmmmm. :confused:

oh, yeah, this is the case for me too. sometimes i can't stand the thread starter, but someone i do like has said something i want to respond to. still, i should find better things to do than respond on a thread thats about an idiotic topic, I think.

LOL... i've noticed that too.
I don't want to give examples, but i'm well aware of those that do that.

I would have to say the number 1 reason I reply to dumb threads is complacency... basically, I reply cause it is there to be replied to....

Also I agree with NYC, if one is finding threads not worthwhile, create something better rather than bitch. Lame people only say stuff like this.
You won't see someone who regularly contributes interesting threads saying something like this...

Also keep in mind chat is basically mindless, if you want a real deep discussion, I am sure there are better places to look. Although now and again, a good one does come up here...

I remember the slew of 'Good Bro' threads. Back in the day, I'd subscribe to them just on the offchance that someone would dump some K on me. I kind of suspected that they were K threads but they never were.

Many other threads I'll take a look at in case somone is being witty or I can add something inane and vaguely ridiculous. Mostly chat is just chat with the odd opportunity to allow my broad but shallow knowledge to sparkle.
 
there are a few people that i only post on their threads because no matter what I say, they make me feel really intelligent.

I don't throw my being a woman around to get things ever. I sure as hell don't get treated differently in the workfield because of my perky breast. They can give a flying fuck less what size my bra is or if I do my kegels correctly, they want the damn drawings and they want them yesterday ;)
