A question for NFL fans...

am i the only one that thinks Brian Urlacher is soft as a linebacker...?

this is how i see him...

softee4.jpg

i like to refer to him as Mr. Softee for obvious reasons...

I don't think he's soft at all.

Why do you people think he's soft?

He's definately not overrated. People say that shit because he was injured most of last year. Its like saying that Ray Lewis is overrated when everyone knows he's a badass murdering linebacker.

selecting for a franchise which represents an entire city's worth of scrutiny
I'd take some big, incredibity quick black ass muthafucker borne of a disadvantaged environment to anchor my defense. and then for my secondary...

Highly over rated as a tough guy, if you are looking for a tough sob than pick up a russian. They are the toughest around right now, they didn't grow up in this cream puff country of ours. Basically what I am saying is all those guys are cream puff softies these days.

Even though I'm not a stat person, ya'll do realize that he is 10th in the league in tackles?

A "soft" linebacker is not going to do that.

I don't think a russian could grasp the football concept.

I know that Ray Lewis is no softie. He's stabbed two people and got away. It takes a real softie to kill two people in cold blood.

I wouldn't want to get hit by a 6'1" 250lbs murderer.

Sehorn came to our compound to check it out and do some training. His agent wouldn't let him do the obstacles because he might get hurt. lmao. I work with guys who broke there arms in combative training and later that night they did the obstacle course just to keep there strength up, ever climb a 25 foot rope with a broken arm? All I'm saying is I bet there are NFL players who get manicures, I don't see them as tough. I do see them as athletes, great athletes but not tough guys.

I don't factor the presence of a criminal record into ferocity evalaution.
in fact I'd prefer to select the offending individual that had done the deed(s) without having been caught
the speed of an NFL play requires razor sharp decisions
with the QB position obviously being most decisive
a guy such as Montana thinks in 10ths of seconds
abstractly he uses his knowledge of his opponents to "feel" pressure from the blind side to time his release
it helps to have Rice to toss to

Jason Sehorn was a pussy and a poor example. Plus they players are basically owned by their agents and the nfl. What about the guys who play with sprained knees and ankles. Or running backs who play with bruised ribs and get slammed into multiple times during games. You have to be tough to play pro football hands down. I know of several people who arent tough at all be in the service.

I don't want to get hit by anyone, I'd rather do the hitting.lol

as for killing, read some books on the psychology of it. Nothing about it makes you tough, just rare. Numerous studies prove that a very small percentage is cabable of it, some of them are probably 4'11 65 year old ladies.

how many of you have been on the sidelines during a bigtime NCAA game or any NFL game?
the speed at which these guys move is shocking
I was on the sidelines for a Penn State-West virgina match in the year PSU finished #3 in the nation(losing to FSU for a chance at the crown)
the speed all those guys were moving witnessed up front was quite opinion changing
when a play was run at my spot on the sidelines
it was "shit" here come a dozen padded monsters right at me
in no time

1. I'm not just in the service
2. I said the russian were tough not service men
3. point about sehorn is I don't think anyone in the nfl 20 years ago would have avoided an obstacle course for injury.
4 I once rucked a 60lb pack 20k with a major sprain and I know I'm not tough. They get the best med attention around, I doubt they feel a thing.
5 You have to be tough compared to what to play pro ball. A heavy weight russian MMA fighter?

I lived in Niles, MI about 20 minutes from Norte Dame. I got to see Charles Woodson tear up ND in 97' when Michigan was undefeated. He was the fastest player I've ever seen.

Todays games are crazy. I bet some high school games today move faster than old pro games. Todays athletes are just sick with talent. Food and training have come a long ways for sure.

i do realize that, but tackles does not equate = toughness...

do we forget that Clinton Portis blew his ass up when Urlacher tried to blow up his gap...? He laid on the ground for a good 5 minutes, and this was when Portis was abotu 200lbs playing for the Bronocs...

SOFT...

Lance Briggs is the best LB on the Bears...

i would take Urlacher on my team any day. Btw do you think Fisher could pick him up next year, we need big time help.

And Urlacher leads linebeackers in sacks

no, Joey Porter has 10.5, Merriman has 9, Haggins has 9, Adalius Thomas has 8, Colvin, Hill, Ware, Orr all have 7, ... which are all more than Urlacher...

sorry bud, i can't see him going anywhere...

you guys should end up pretty well in the draft and can maybe get one in the early first round... although you need help in a few other spots as well...

I have never seen the word 'few' used like that before.

Tennessee can aquire a quality LB in the draft. Just look at what Shawn Merriman did this year for the chargers. He'll be one of the best very quickly.

They have 4 guys on the team with over 6 years experience, k-qb-t-t. How do you win with a bunch of rookies?

When your a killer its not what you have upstairs its what you don't have or lacking thereof. lol.
you're so wrong
it's conditioning
conditioning meaning a time involvment
what you are commenting on are "young" conditioned to devalue life(generally)
a conditioning to kill mindset can be done with a grandfather

if you were "in the know" you would know that just competing in an NFL game is a trainwreck experience. ball carrying positions are punished beyond belief. most who had an NFL career of some length will pay for their involvement for the remainder of their lives

"speed" and/or "quickness" is largely genetic
yes you can take a "base figure" and improve it with training/nutrition
but guys such as Bo Jackson or Deion Sanders are representations of genetic pinacles
they have it
at the NFL level with a 300 million pool to select from
you have it

Conditioning that was brought upon by someone who may have mental problem. Hence they are lacking something upstairs telling them that is wrong. Or especially in young people they become a product of their environment from all the negative influences/conditioning.

You are right though in your post.

Are you saying that the food and training of today has not made quicker more athletic people and that genetics is responsible for that?

no
the instinct to kill existed long before this era
we have quicker and stronger killers now
savvy too
if you think mankind has changed with regards to our base instints in 100000 years or so
then you will be in disagreement with me
are we more civilized?
yeah
I'm a mortician
I recall working a burial
I noticed in the cemetery three tombstones consecutive, and a fourth
the death dates on the three small tombstones listed the same death date
as well the same for the fourth
the birth dates on the three were close together, with the mother as I figured being 20 years earlier, yet they all shared the same death date
I commented about that to a guy
he informed me that the mother threw her three children down a well and then followed them
that's CNN material
