A little request to mods, from an ex-mod

I've been back for a couple of days now, and I've noticed that threads are getting locked...... now I'm not saying it's wrong to lock the aforementioned threads but last time I was here at least the mod responsible for locking the thread owned up to it and generally gave a reason.
I know some of the threads that have been locked have been done so for obvious reason, but it would still be good to know and I think it is just common courtesy.
Just my 2p's worth.

Yeah an explanation would be nice but unfortunately that not how it works any more.
Usually it's abovious anyway--karma threads is #1 reason for lockage, flame fests are #2 reason, open discussion of forbidden topics (sources, webistes, prices, etc) is #3, and Fonz or 2Thick starting to lose an argument and getting upset and posting the last word and then locking the thread is #4. (even though they invariably claim #2 when this happens)
One that I didn't get was that eye worm one, what was that locked?

Jules sounds like the ultra-mellow dude, working at the bookstore but you piss him off even slightly and pulls out a pair of paring knives and goes berserk on like twenty people before the riot squad brings him down screaming with a barrage of shotgun slugs.
