a little competition

how about a little competition . post results here this sunday. how long can you hold a plank position?
hands,forearms and toes touching. nothong else. anyone in?

i usually do 5 minutes. rest 30 seconds. do 2:30 rest 30 seconds.
do 1:15 rest 30 seconds.
then i have my daughter put a 25# plate on my back for 1 minute.
then i rest 30 seconds . then she puts 35#'s on my back. i hold this for 1 minute.
thats it. 1 day a week on abs.
1 use 90% of my energy bicycle racing..
other 10% is pullups dips pushups hang cleans and abs... with a few other exercises thrown in there from time to time.
 
So I just did it and got 7:01, but I have a question: Can we change the position of the back as we are doing it? IE can you stick your butt in the air or not? I stuck my butt in the air for part of it so would that be cheating?
 
you cannot stick your butt in the hair doing a plank - when I teach class and my peeps are in a plank I'm always screaming at them to get their ass down and threatening to sit on them if they don't ;)

my legs are toast from all the hard days of riding. then its a few ez days to recover..
no squats for me. all the top exercise dr.'s in the world say squatting does nothing at all for cycling. i have friends who lift, and i hear them all the time telling me to squat, it'll make me faster at cycling, and i read on some weightlifting boards the same thing... but when you have the best dr's in the world studying this, the best cycling coaches saying the same thing, along with 99.9 % of the riders themselves, the answer is it wont. get you strength on the bike..
anyway, when i give up cycling, i'll hit the weights more and squat. squating and deadlifting are supose to help you big time on exercise like the plank, and well, you squat well, all you're other lifts will go up too..
 
that's true spk.... you train for your sport and if squatting isn't beneficial to your goals, then why do it?

sorry forgot to give this a try- been mad busy with stuff. I'll do it sometime soon, but there is no way i am going to win lol
 
i got bored at 10 minutes and called it quits. I can do that crap forever. Try doing a side plank with the top leg also raised. That's a bitch.

I am cramping already just thinking about that. Plus I think it would be disturbing for anyone watching me.

The thing has many uses. I don't see why more people don't get one. Even the ladies.

If women get a Strongman Safety Belt to go with their boobs...I'm going to be upset. Then they can "double continental" the axle?

Yeah that's what I thought---I could probably get 7 minutes legit though cause it was really easy with a little cheating and I got bored.
