What is this exercise? It looks like a horrible executed clean to push press. Axel Press? That's a thick bar too!
What's up with the mixed grip, switch. Is that part of the lift or something. Makes no sense. If she can press 230 over head. She sure as hell can deadlift 230 double overhand.
She is strong though. Good for her.
In strongman there really are no rules about how the lift is supposed to be done. Unlike powerlifting, where there are exacting requirements on what the lift should look like, and not following them will cause you to red light.
Actually, she is doing what is known as a "continental form". Get it to your sternum, then reset give it another pop to get your arms under it and then the press.
Ans yes, that is a 2" bar. You would be surprised how hard it is to double overhand deadlift that bar.

30 minutes worth of work on the 2" Axle would answer every single one of your questions.
I'd love a thick bar. I've heard nothing but great things about them and how much harder it is to grip. Same from you guys. I actually have been trying to talk my gym owner to buy one. Hope I can get him to cave.
I don't know anywhere in the area that has one but I'm going to check again. It looks like fun.
I went to a local steel shop and had him cut me a 7' piece of schedule 80 pipe and just got some lock down collars. Would have been just as easy to have had him weld some collars on. I think I spent $20 on the bar, plus collars.
