A few questions about low carb dieting

As of today I'm beginning a 4 week low carb diet, it will be a variation of the Atkins version. The notable exception is that I plan to stay away from foods with high fat and cholestrol content. However I had a few questions about the following:

Do onions contain a signficant amount of carbs? (I love grilled onions with my food, I sometimes eat 3 at a time with strips of grilled chicken and mushrooms so I'm wondering if they contain carbs and whether or not I should avoid them)

I have'nt heard of any health risks as of yet with low carb diets, but is this something I should be concerned with?

When a person acheives a state of ketosis are cardio workouts more effective? If so how much more effective?

Thanks for any input

If you're in ketosis, you start to burn fat off quicker because there is no glucose in the bloodstream to burn through.
Health risks? None that I can think of unless you eat lard by the bucket.
You should be cool eating onions. I do it, and they don't stop fatloss. Not sure of their macro-breakdown, though.

I also have a question about the low carb diet, so lets say i do this diet for 4 weeks, </= 100g carbs per day. i'm planning on using ALA. What happens when you come off the diet, i am afraid that i will start to gain bf back when i come off the diet and resume a semi normal 200-300 g carb/day diet. how do you maintain afterwards

thanks

Add low glycemic carbs into your diet gradually. Try going at 100g carbs a few days, then 150, etc. until you get to where you want to be.
