A couple I know, found out that their unborn child may have Downs Syndrome.

I'd like to think that I would love my kids just the same, even if they were afflicted with something like that. I think I would too. It would be hard to deal with some of the challenges though. If the parents are having doubts and struggling with alcohol at the same time, that poor kid doesn't figure to have a very loving environment waiting for him or her.

just out of curiosity, can this be caused by drinking? i think if they are both heavy drinkers, it would not be smart to have the baby....or any baby for that matter.

Don't know.. probably not as it seems to be the only way to get at the fetus' genetic material ..

Mom's blood does not share/mix the stuff needed to look at what's going on with the fetus..

What IF you married the love of your life.. She got into a terrible wreck and was wheel chair bound the rest of her life. Would you kick her to the curb? Write her off? Pay someone to put her to death? WHAT would you do in this case???

Better yet, put the shoe above on YOUR own feet. Want your woman/family/friends too throw away the "damaged goods" NOW?

Well personally, i would not get an abortion because the baby has downs syndrome.. Of course I feel sorry for the family but thats why a parent should love the child unconditionally.

What kind of life does a down's child have? No life...

If my fiance got into a wreck and became wheelchair bound, I would not leave her. This type of situation would be out of our control. They DO have the control/option to terminate the baby and try again.
