If you have leaks in your a/c compressor, condenser, etc. where freon escapes -- is it possible to fix it without having to replace everything in your a/c system?
No. It needs to be pressure tested which will tell you where the leak is with any luck. They put a dye into the lines.
Could be a simple fix. Of course if your A/C is something like 20 years old you'll save more money over a couple years by replacing it.
My friend had an A/C system that was dated 1972. LOL. First month he lived in his house the electric bill was $700. New A/c and attic insulation brought that down to $350 a month. New windows dropped his bill a lot too but they were expensive.
They do the same for cars. Put dye in the system then use a blacklight to pinpoint the leak. You can even buy a do-it-yourself a/c dye kit at an autoparts store if you wanted.
