My grandfather served in WW2, had 2 daughters, and taught school in an all black neighborhood. He had soccer programs set up, and often bought their uniforms since their parent's couldn't afford food, let alone soccer equipment. He tended to my grandmother, who had alzheimer's for about 14 years before she died, never leaving her side, never put her up in some shitty nursing home. 6 months after she passed, he did as well, April 7 this year. The man taught me what true love is. Truly a great man that gave all he ever had in everything he did. Truth is, I see a lot of him in me, and it makes me proud.
Thanks for giving me this moment to remember my Grandpa.
