9 sets enough???

what are your opinions on this...are 9 sets enough for major body parts??? and thats 9 hardcore sets..max weight you can do for 10 reps...really intense
 
I would say thats enough, if you have the intensity and really KNOW how to focus and work the muscle you are trying to work. My Tri workout today had 10 sets, had a good pump going by the 3rd and 4th set.
 
If your looking for a good 9 set routine for each major body part check out the 5x5 routine, alot of people are getting good results on it.
 
Don't get hung up with a certain number.
Go with whatever makes you bigger or stronger.

I can't do any more than a 5x5 workout on my shoulders. (plus maybe a set or two on my rear delts) Otherwise, they're not recovered enough for my chest workout a few days later.

I've wasted a long time trying to push them too hard. Only since I've dropped the volume way down have they begun to grow again.
 
For ME, 3-4 work sets to failure is all I need to stimulate growth. Generally, if you cant walk for days you're doing too much and if you aren't sore at all you could maybe do a bit more. With experience you will learn what your body requires.

If I do 9 worksets I`m more than fried. I may just not be a good at recovering from one workout to the other. Also, depends if you`re using, you may be able to do more.
 
9 sets is what I do for every muscle group basically. I'm doing the 5x5.

so like for shoulders - overhead press 5x5 , then arnold press 2x10, then lateral raises 2x10. This is the format i follow for every muscle group.
 
for me? 9 sets was only adequate for small groups...bis/tris/calves......everything else I always felt I needed more 15-20..........
