Not as negative as Matt on this, though I share his sentiment. Still, though, this is like a pre-date. So you spend 8 minutes talking like you would talk in a bar, and that's about what it takes. Plus you get maybe some background info?
I imagine if you are looking for a serious relationship, this is probably about as good as dating someone a friend recommends to you. Probably better.

Well actaully it is what you make of it. The first time I did it yeah it was like any 8-minute convo you could have in a bar. But once you realize the chicks are all there to find dates you just jump in and ask questions...my go-to questions were "what do you look for in a mate?" (and I would jump in and say if I met the qualifications) and "what do you like to do?"
One chick was all "I love romance, roses, candlelight dinners, etc. I was like "NOT!"
It's one third having fun, one third selling yourself, and one third finding out what the other person is all about. Good food thrown in for good measure, and it's fun comparing notes with the other guys.

I am beginning to realize that meeting people to date is harder than I thought. I mean, I refuse to date anyone where I work (regardless of where I have worked, this has been a no-no). When I am not at work I am generally with my kids and I NEVER pay men any mind when I am with my kids (though guys have tried to discreetly slip me their number, my kids caught on so I couldnt go out with the guy... even if I wanted to).
It's just another way to meet people that you wouldnt otherwise.
