5x5 Training Question

Hey Bro's,

I've been off of the site for about a year, and I'm back now (was under the name rvd_brock before). I had a couple training questions. Regarding the 5x5, I was trying to decide what workout I'd get the most gain out of the 5x5 routine for triceps. I had been doing cable bar triceps for the 5x5 portion and 2x10's on tricep pushdowns (dip machine) and on kickbacks. I'm maxing the rack on the 5x5, and I don't feel I'm making any real gains out of it. I was wondering what you guys might suggest for my 5x5 (I was thinking of doing pushdowns 5x5 and then overhead tricep cable and kickbacks for the 2x10's, and mixing in skullcrushers every other week to keep mixing it up). Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

I would do close grip presses for the 5x5 part. I've always done the heavy pressing movement for any 5x5 routine.
agree..kickbacks are for girls lol
cg bench 5x5
skulls 2x8-10
rope pushes 2x 8-10

never tried 5x5 with close-grip, might have to give it a shot, use to doing sets of 10.

I HATE KICKBACKS.

my tri rountine (gained over 2" in about 18 months):

close-grip
weighted/seated dips
overhead (two-handed) extensions or skulls
rope extensions: LIGHT WEIGHT, want great form (3 sets of 15)

some good ideas here, and yes, kickbacks are useless
I would suggest either close grip or weighted dips

5x5 Weighted Dips
2x10-12 Closegrip
2x10-12 Incline Skulls

Screw the pulley movements and focus on the meat and potato lifts.

Thx for the help bro's.

I think I'm going to do

5x5 cg bench

And then 2 of the following each week:
{
2x10 dips (using a machine where you add plates......don't have a belt for weighted)
2x10 overhead rope extensions
2x10 skullcrushers
2x10 rope pushdowns
}

Sound good?

looks good the only thing i would say is to not switch the secondary exercises every week because you want to make progress on those as well..maybe rotate them every 3 weeks or until you plateau
