50 worst guitar solos ever!

Here's a funny list of the 50 Worst Guitar Solos Ever. The critique is hilarious too. I would not suggest actually listening to this god-awful playlist, as I'm pretty sure that's how spontaneous combustion happens. Tried to listen to it, and it hurt.

If you are a guitarist, you learn a lot about what not to do, which can be very instructive.

23. "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake
Soloist: Adrian Vandenberg
Album: Whitesnake
Year: 1987

It's hard to believe that there was a time when abhorrent Zeppelin- lite bands like Whitesnake and Def Leppard defined the sound of mainstream rock. This is yet another solo that's marred with frivolous ostentation and bad guitar- school habits. Ah, such melodrama, such grace. Metal modes with such a light, loving touch. Ah, such gutless passivity. The spirit of Neal Schon certainly presides over this one.

It was John Sykes who played the solo. lol

43. "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd
Soloist: David Gilmour
Album: The Wall
Year: 1979

I once thought this was a pretty impressive guitar solo. Then I read somewhere that Gilmour painstakingly sliced up a few different versions of the solo, and meticulously pieced them together in the studio. Okay, maybe you need a few takes to get it right, but this is preposterous. After all, what are we dealing with here? Rock 'n' roll or gene- splicing?

Ok, I have a problem with this entry, Gilmour got tired of playing the same solo over and over and over again in the studio, he literally got bored with it. The splicing was done so he wouldn't stab Roger Waters with his guitar.

That's pretty horrible. Some fucking Cheap Trick song that nobody's ever heard makes the list? Looks suspciously like the ramblings of a failed guitarist that still has an axe to grind.

Hahaha, you have to take Pitchfork with a grain of salt. Great great staff with some really out there opinions. I like 'em.

That being said, I'd kill to be able to write stuff for them.

Although I love Slayer, I have to admit that every solo they have is just useless chromatic scale noodling with 20 wild wammy bar dives.

queens of the stone age's single has the worst guitar solo I've ever heard... it sounds like he's trying to go all tom morello on it but it really just sounds like he can't play.

lol that's funny marshall . . . I was also listening to Guitar World's 100 best solos at about the same, and they have like four Neil Young songs ?!? My daughter, listening with me, says, "Daddy, is this the good list or the bad list? This guy sucks!" :)

I was watching the episode of "Behind the Music" with Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and they said that they HAD to have Neil in the band because he was such a great electric lead player. Not only is he an aweful lead player, but he also fucked up their otherwise beautiful vocal harmonies.

Nope.

It was Adrian Vandenberg. Sykes played everything else on the album.

Is that for Little Sister? I know it's pretty horrible, but the album has some good songs.

Looks like Gilmour just thrashed that entire solo out, just fine. Guess even at 62 he's a better guitarist than most.

a few of the worst solos are from the album License to Ill by the Beastie Boys. Kerry King from Slayer played on them most notably the one on you gotta fight for your right and i think there's another horrible one on no sleep till brooklyn

Some of the entries are questionable...

1st rule of thumb, being a guitarist myself, you NEVER question bands like AC/DC, Triumph, Metallica, and Zeppelin...NEVER!
This includes guitar solos!

if you say that neil young is a bad guitar player, then you dont know what youre talking about.

During my musical education at Berkeley, and then GIT in Los Angeles, we were required to take courses in criticism. I have seen more guitarists, violinists, cellists, and etc. ply their trade than 99% of the rest of the population. Therefore, I am more than qualified to determine Neil Young's ability to play the guitar. I have met Neil, and we discussed his playing. The best part about Neil is that he sucks...and he knows he sucks. I don't care that he sucks. He has his fans, and that's great for him. He's a pretty fair songwriter, and at the end of the day, I would trade writing one good song for all the superfast guitar licks on the planet.

C'mon, Kerry is the man. He loves his wah, I do agree. Jeff is more intricate.

Just a little background about me: ive been playing guitar for 17 years, so my opinion isnt necessarily garbage.

just because Mr. Young doesn play intricate solos and isnt as technical as other guitarists doesnt mean he sucks..his guitar playing fits his style..
