pintoca said:an hour should be the MAX time you do cardio, from that point on you will normally hasve diminishing retuns... most people are happy with 45 mins.
If you want to play with variables, once you hit 45mins, start changing your frequency (times /week) and your intensity (MHR) until you hit the point of max returns.
In my case it was High frequency (6 times/week) with med-high intensity (about 80% MHR) Eventually you get used to it

pintoca said:90 minutes in a session? much rather have double cardio sessions (morning, evenings) then... but then again, who has time for that?
Synpax said:Because your body initially relies on glycogen and not fat.
Double cardio means you restart the energy usage and throw away the first time you got yourself into fat loss mode.

let me get this straight, so keep ur hear rate at certain # for 45 min, so does not matter how fast, level u do on the machine, as long as the rate is steady at certain rate, so 220-29= 191, so 191 x 80% = 152.8 beats per minute.
this is all according to this site

My typical routine now to lose fat is I lift weights 4 days a week and then do cardio for at least 45 minutes if not an hour on the eliptical trainer, and add one more cardio day. I don't do any cardio after legs FYI and my diet is fine, changing over from bulking to cutting. How does this look to you fat burning vets out there?
pintoca said:sounds like me, it will work, provided your diet is in check.
if you do cardio after lifting, have your PWO shake AFTER you finish the cardio, not before it
