3x5 Question

hey guys. so listen. i've done the 5x5 twice now. my lifts are still low due to inconsistence and my IBS. i havent been able to lift since may due to several reasons. i plan on starting this september.

i've never run the 3x5, but i got advice that i should to get back into things given the long lay off. my question is, for anyone who has run it, what aux. work have you guys done.

i plan on substituting rows for power cleans because ive never done them, and i have no one to coach me on the matter.

other than that, should i stick to something similar to the 5x5, doing abs and lower back m and w and doing a lot of aux work on fri?

thanks in advance.

I don't do any extra stuff, just a nice good warmup then the main lifts.

3 non consecutive days a week.

Day A: Squats, Bench Press, Deadlift

Day B: Squats, Overhead Press, Barbell Rows.

Been doing that for 7 weeks now with good results so far, I would highly reccomend reading up on the program in the training sticky, it is very helpful.

abs and lower back work can be done after either of the workouts. Don't make up your own day to add in fluff work, follow the A, B, A and B, A, B schedule. If your lifts are still "low" then you really don't need aux work, you need to focus on your lifts.

No I wouldn't make up my own day for fluff work. Basically take the schedule A, B, A. I'd do abs and lower back after the first A workout. Some abs after workout B. And possibly some dips and curls after the second workout A before taking 2 days off and continuing.
