3 Wonderful questions for Nelson Montana

Hey Frak, To answer your questions to the best of my ability...

1...Rheo Blair was the guy (genius) who came up lactose as the perfect carb. He believed it was superior because of it's animal origin. Lactose is a curious substance. It's essentially a simple sugar but it doesn't break down like a normal high glycemic food. It's digestion, like that of milk itself, is slow and therefore more "long term" and anti-catbolic as oppossed to something that's absorbed quickly. Lactose is also highly insulogenic -- forcing nutrients into the bloodstream/muscles. This is why the old timers drank gallons of milk and cream in order to grow. Sure, you can get fat, but that can happen with insulin use too. But you sure do grow! If you're trying to cut, extra lactose may not be in your best interests, but if you're looking to bulk up, and gain mass, lactose (along with colostrum and whole eggs, which were a part of the Blair formula) can work wonders.

2...This is a debate I have with my buddy Rick Collins all the time. Yes, I believe that eventually steroid use will become more "tolerated" (Through the actions of guys like Rick -- please support his work) but I think it's going to take a long, long time. America is a country that never grasped the concept of the "victimless crime." To a great degree, it's a nation of paranoid puritans with a stick so far up their ass they can't see beyond their own trailer park. Our legislature is made up of wimps and fools. The only thing that will get them to change their stance on any drug use is to have a public outcry for it. (i.e votes) And the public demand for steroids is still small. This is why we need more good will ambassadors to state our case. Evertime some 280 lb asshole beats up his girlfriend, it puts us 10 steps back.

3...At one time I thought Bill Phillps was a world class prick. But I've since softened my stance. There have been lots of rumors about him, but I won't comment on that. I hated the fact that he turned his back on the people who supported him and went for the mainstream audience. But I can't blame him. The guy had a multimillion dollar business going and people would be sending him roids at his office asking if it was real. Lunkheads would stop by carrying gear, and many of his his readers, in general, were acting like idiots while using Muscle Media 2000 as their battle cry. It just got out of control. Not to metion, his audience wasn't interested in supplements. They needed to save their money for drugs. He eventually got fed up and decided to go another direction. TC Luoma on the other hand, took the Phillips concepts, including the sell-out, and copied them exactly. It was a con job from the start, and one that me and others who were involved with it in the beginning didn't appreciate. Hardcore bodybuilders are very loyal and using them as the first customers is a good way of making money, as opposed to fighting for a piece of the mainstream audience. But once T-Mag, got enough revenue, they jumped on the bullshit bandwagon and have been riding it ever since. Not only do I take that as a personal insult, I feel it's a slap in the face to everyone who suppoted the site. Now they have loads of clueless newbies (T-men!) who buy into their scam. At least Bill Phillips was an original. And he was honest. You gotta tip your hat to the guy. He brought steroids to the fore of the public conciousness and got rich doing it. This site probably wouldn't exist if it weren't for Bill Phillips.

Lactose, laws and louses. Whew! I hope this cleared a few things up.

Interesting statement...I always include milk and whole eggs in my diet when bulking, and here you mention colostrum.
Does that mean you see some merit in supplementing with colostrum? Any particular dosages/brands you recommend?

It's the hardest thing in the world to keep focus on real goals when there's millions of dollars to be had by selling out and becoming a mainstream 'guru'.
