I'm reluctant to walk blindly in to 24 hour fitness and ask them about a membership because I really hate high pressure sales. Especially when I don't plan to use them for anything other than their pool and sauna. Can some of you that have researched their costs, or have memberships, tell me what the going rate is on a monthly and anual basis?

I have been a member there twice, they will try and rape you on a signup fee. They will also try to jack up your monthly if you are getting a "no money down" deal. Their sales people just try to get everything out of you they can...i think the shortest contract is about 6 months....and it has the highhest sign up fee.

The second time I joined I was dating one of a personal trainer that worked there and she was able to give me a "friends and family" deal which was 12 bucks a month no money down. If you know anyone there I would highly suggest you try to get something like this, otherwise it is a total rip off
 
They have sales about every other month it seems, if you can wait for one. But it's still only a good deal if you sign a long contract.
 
I could probably put a hot tub on my deck and buy a nice eliptical and forget about it. lol
 
month to month isnt bad, if you go limited days ( ex: t,th sa, sun) it should be only about 19 a month or so. if you are using it for just steam/sauna that would be the way to go. its month to month so you can cancel at any time. as far as enrollment fees, ask for what they would be on a "shape up" plan which is the one i described. if you pay for a whole year in advance, you usually get 2 years "free" (which breaks down to $20 a month anyways over 3 years. after that you usually have a renewal for the year of $99 or $49 or whatever, which isnt bad if you are in it for the long run.
 
The YMCA's here are REALLY expensive. They are nice, state-of-the-art 3 story facilities. I'm not sure they'd be much cheaper. Although, my mom has a membership, and I might be able to tag on to hers. I'll see about that. The appeal of 24 hour is that it's practically connected to my neighborhood, about 5 blocks away, and open 24 hours (obviously).
 
i wish i still had my "friends and family" coupon. it was all clubs, every day, no enrollment or processing...and $19 a month. maybe nonerz has one still. i get them on my paycheck sometimes, i'll keep my eyes open.
 
i'll see what i can do/find out. we are overdue for one of those deals. are you in a rush....if not, hold out for me, i'll come through. we get them periodically, and its been a little while since we had a good deal for friends/family.
 
I'm in no rush. I would like to have somewhere I can do sprints in the winter on an eliptical, since the tracks are covered in ice and I don't like to sprint on the street. The pool would be nice for some plyos too, but none of that is urgent. I can wait. :D

The coupons lately have been for $29 a month / no enrollment or processing fees. This membership gives you access to all of the "fitness" and "sport" clubs.

It is a really good deal if you ask me. I was paying almost $40 a month for my membership before I became an employee...and I had to pay the godawful sign up fees!

Spatts go in and ask to speak with the manager, tell him listen I would like a program where I can use the sauna and pool I am willing to pay this much up front for so many months , the more months you pay up front the cheaper it should be, and just ask him to work with you....Try and remember gyms are tough businesses and for as much as they "rip you off" i have guys who pay me 90 dyas late etc. and they have bills and staff to pay etc.

24 hour wont deal. they are set in prices. if they stray from that, the agreement gets returned to the club (RTC'ed) and it is done over, AND the counselor gets no commision (auto noncomm). this isnt a mom and pops organization, it is the largest privately held fitness company in the world.
 
My fault I won a gym and I work that way, and I have done it with Golds and workout plus....Just an Idea

i pay $24/mo for all club access w/no money down (other than first/last month)...

i guess it helped that my buddy got me a fake corporate membership while he was working there...

i do think that better deals can be had, if you know the right person(s)

Yes, yes that correct I WON a gym last year in nstaed of taking the million dollars I took the deed to the powerlifting gym instead, I wanted an adventure.....
