Here they are:

When doing them, should you keep your arms straight up at 90 degree angle or slant them a bit towards your head? And when you lower the bar should you lower it to your forehead or alittle pass your head (over the edge of the bench)? Thanks guys.

when i do triceps extensions i do them a few different ways, each one varys the angle of the upper arm.

1. to the throat
2. to the nose
3. to past the head

all three work pretty good, so use them all and see which one you like the most. but i think you can benefit from having them all in your arsenal. the more the merrier!

i prefer to do them with the bar at about 65 degree angle (inbetween 45 and 90) and touch the bar to the bench. i raise my head up about 3 inches off the bench and then let it touch down under my head slightly.

I agree w/ Exodus. The more angle backwards you place on your arms the more stretch you get in the Tri. This actually takes any potential shoulder assistance out of the movement.

The angle means that you keep constant tension on the tri as well, even at the top of the movement...

Lowering to your forehead primarily works the lateral and medial heads of the triceps, while lowering it behind your head works the long head more. It's a good idea to do both though.

You should try doing them on a decline. I didnt think it would make a huge difference but man I get the greatest pump going and am making great gains on my tris.

I love this exercise... but oh the pain!! Too many years of baseball have made my right arm a disaster.... but I persevere..

I like to do them on a decline bench. I can get a much deeper stretch and the angle keeps tension on the tricep heads for a longer portion of the movement... give it a try sometime.

lowering the bar to your chin or throat works a completely different part of the triceps than when you lower to the head or behind your head....you will feel it in the small part of your tricep close to your elbow.

I'm not sure what bar your using but I use a curl bar and hold it on the slants that are closest to the center. But that's really your preference, whatever feels best to you. When I bring the bar down I usually come to the top of my forehead but if you don't have a spot or they aren't too reliable then you may want to go a little past your forehead so you can drop it if you need to.

It feels like (to me) if you bring it down past your forehead, like over the edge of the bench, you take the focus off or your tri's and put it on your lats.

sounds like a good idea.

Thanks for the replies guys. I do them on a decline with an EZ curl bar by the way. I love them. Thanks for the tip Exodus, I just used the angle method and felt burns in places I didnt even know I had muscles in. Thank you to all of you for your tips.
