2 day lifting?

If i were to lift 2 days a week, leaving me fresh for my games on the weekend, what would be a good 2 day lifting scheme to still gain muscle? the 3x5 workouts a and b...or would they be ineffective twice a week?

push/press. a heavy/med. SQ scheme, with a press & a pull of some sort.

like:
Wed. : heavy SQ, bench press, bb row
Sat. : med SQ, push press, DL variation

what about if i wanted to do mon,wed.....or if i could have a three day straigh split m,t,w.....but that isnt likely a great idea eh?

Ice hockey,im the goalie....at a high level for a 17year old (junior a)......so you think what kind of push.leg, pull like the 3x5 workouts?

I'm going heavy on Mon/Wed and light on Fri. Well, Friday is still heavy, but with far less volume. I'm fresh for the weekend. Something like that might suit you.

maybe, like how do you do it? whats your program?

well actually im not procrastinating, i am doing a routine right now (3x5) but i am asking questions to see what i should do....its not like im just sitting here not doing anything.

Well, as I already said, the routine I'm doing has more work at the beginning of the week and uses the end of the week for recovery, so that I'm ready to set new PRs at the beginning of the following week. I'm making gains and feel fine by the weekend.

I can't say how you'd do when you add in the hockey, but planning your week like this seems to fit with what you're doing.

AB said it well w/ "I'm making gains and feel fine by the weekend." And he is not a 17yr old w/ off the charts recovery and unlimited potential. He has run many 5x5's and progresses, and isn;t sore. THis is because his body is prepared now. Your's will be soon.

Keep doing 3x per week. Change Wednesday to 2x5 on all lifts, or 3x5 at 70% of your 1RM.

You just need to lighten the load...or man up and get used to the volume. Eat more, sleep more. Stuff like that.

its not that i cant handle it and am dead on the weekend. i just think im losing some reflexes, flexability and like, spry-ness if that makes sense. i have been told not to lift hard in season....i think im gonna maintain and in march when the season is over hit the gym mad hard all through till next season...
