I can get hi-speed but the contracted phone service here charges criminally high for it. Satellite is way to much as well.

check and see if they have a point to point wiress internet available.....usually runs about 34 a month and you get up to 4 megs!!

also its done in alot of rural areas.......

i don't know if you live in a city but maybe google alternative internet or wireless internet for your area

You can also check with any neighbors, you might be able to get a small group together and share a high-speed connection. Use encrypted wifi to share with them.

If their is distance involved, you can use an aimed dish to transmit the wifi signal over fairly long distances (pretty much anywhere you can get line of site, with the right antenna).
