17 yr old's corvette was ripped in half doing 80mph. hit a semi head on.

My first car was a 1969 GTO. Huge motor, huge carb, very fast.
Never got a ticket, never in an accident. It is not the car, it is the responsibility/maturity level of the driver.

well would you want your own kids driving a machine that can do zero to 60 in around 5 seconds? or being able to acclerate though 60 mph and beyond? i wanted a 91 5.0 stang at 16.dad said it wad too much car for me and nothing about the money since he help me pay for a more expensive ride.

and think about when his friends were in that vette? the wild shit they pulled i bet.

Thats the difference. When YOU pay for your own car, your parentscan't really tell you what you can get. that thing looks like a late 70's vette anyway. I doubt it went 0-60 in 5 secs.

Kids should learn to drive on a SAFE car most of all. You can drive fast and kill yourself in any car if you are looking for trouble and a speed rush.

my kid is going to be driving a ford ranger 4 banger that tops out at 65 like i had in highschool. If i had a stang at 17 i would have killed myself too.

thank you. Kid really should have known better.

I'm 17 but the only time I ever go very fast (80=120) is if I am on a smooth interstate in the middle of no-where that is mostly strait and has almost no traffic.

Or in a school zone around 3.

When I first glanced at this thread, I thought it said "17 old's corvette was ripped in half doing 80 mph with a semi hard on."
