OMG. That poor child. I swear to GOd I wish I'd never been born. THis is such a goddamn cruel evil world.

thats so sad
I saw a show on the discovery channel where women had 200 lb tumors on their torsos and they were bone thin and were probably going to die without the surgeries
the surgeries were successes
but i think this one is worse
that poor girl

Stories like that break my heart. Once I'm done with nursing school I'd love to be able to do volunteer medical work overseas from time to time.

sad, usually they take those extreme cases on for free.

One of the more interesting cases is a fetus-in-fetu. Where a twin actually develops inside the other twin becoming a parasite connected to the twins blood supply. I saw this one documentary of this pregnant lil boy with his own twin at like five or six they had it become so large that it looked like he was pregnant.
They removed a baby, his sibling from his belly

BrothaBill is right. Most of those cases get taken on by volunteer medical staff. I think that's great because 1) the kid can get help and 2) the dr's have to think outside the box and come up with new procedures etc to deal with highly unusual conditions.

It's really heartbreaking though.

:( wow thats heart breaking

omg..i wouldn't sworn that was a photoshopped pic if it weren't on a legit website.

thats terrible, i didnt even think that shit could happen to someones face.

The surgery will wind up no doubt in journals and will be teaching tool to show facial reconstruction. Alot of surgeons take on cases like this as a challenge and also travel overseas to do things like this. Sort of a popular thing to do actually. I dont think that the removal of the tumor would be all that difficult but building a face afterwards would. I knew a girl that they used her big toe for a nose.
This is a multisurgical project for sure and probably will end up on the discovery channel

Indeed. I was watching a show about a little one in Egypt yesterday who had 2 heads. Well, one of them was a parasitic twin without organs or anything. It's so sad but it's so fascinating for the dr's to have to come up with a surgery.

I saw a child with a very similar face tumor on discovery health and after quite a few surgeries they winded up looking a lot better. Not normal, but more normal.

I also once say a child with his bald head where his ass should have been. Now that is not the only tragedy, it had a crack on it too! Right down the middle.
