Nice video.
Is it me or do they throw a roundhouse almost vertically as opposed to across?

well as I do/done Kyokushin I can answer this - the usal way for Kyokushin guys (esp if you have the flexibility of Akiyoshi Matsui, the guy in the vid), they tend to throw them more vertical than hortizontally so they are easier to land - the more traditional roundhouses of shotokan, etc are way too telegraphed, and therefore easy to defend.

Whilst Matsui was an amazing technician, that 100 man kumite was a bit of a sham as he was competing against mostly yellow belts and green belts, and not true black belts. I even know of a Spanish guy who he fought in the 30th round (or so) who was a yellow belt at the time, and they put a brown belt on him to make it look more "real"...

yes, against opponents that were selected based on their inexperience and disadvantages.

The World Kyokushin tournaments in the 70-80's were so rigged it was funny.

Matsui was groomed to win the 4th world event.

Interesting, thanks.
There is no power lost like that?

I mean, when you kick up intead of across, you loose some of the hip rotation power, which is replaced by hip flexors and quads.
May be I am wrong.

Dammit, does anyone know the track? That's what I originally wanted.
