I'm most certainly not a jerk, anyone who has been involved with me will tell you this, I'm loyal to a fault, not overly possesive, very respectful towards women and am ALWAYS there for support when needed, just ask any of my friends who know me well here. However at the same time once someone crosses unto my bad side I am a very ruthless asshole and won't back down from dismantling someone using every low blow I can if they deserve it no matter how mean or evil I have to be, I protect myself. (wasn't always like that but ya learn as ya go) Embracing both your good and dark qualities in my opinion is essential in developing yourself as an overall human being.

Lots of the self proclaimed nice guys tend to be extremly possesive, a yes man, clingy, and have bad self esteem problems, they are also afraid to fight for something or put their neck on the line. I think thats the part women hate if they really wanted those things they would go buy a new puppy dog. Don't let your partner have the upper hand, keep shit on equal grounds, and call them on it when they try to switch it up. I dunno Im done being preachy what do I know anyways...

I think a lot of women who have ever been with a genuine jerk have lower expectations and self esteem when they go into new relationships too quickly and therefore will probably end up with a jerk again. However, a woman who takes the time to find herself again after a bad relationship will more than likely seek out a genuine, decent guy. The problem is that once women become emotionally scarred, they find it very difficult to open up again and let a decent guy into their lives for fear that they will be hurt again.

I actually disagree with many of the comments here. I believe it is the jerks who are the more possessive and controlling. How many nice guys do you see getting into fits of jealous rage?
