Hm, Novice Trainer, Starting Strength Program, Gallon of Milk a Day....
30 lean pounds for an underweight growing college athlete is no big deal.
If you've already put on the muscle god thought you should have well then I figure it's pretty much impossible.
Current weight is about 230 and am hoping for 240 something for Christmas
@ 3k calories I'm losing 2 pounds a week.
@ 4k my weight is stable but I can't recover from my workouts.
@ 5k my recovery is good and my weight is moving up.
Madcow 5x5 and Starting Strength have been the two most productive programs that I have tried.
The downside of 5x5 was that I wasn't ready for an intermediate program at the time and ended up doing a fair bit of Tendon damage.
Starting Strength seems to be building overall strength faster and...
Currently using a Test 400.
Painless going in, increased swelling peaking @ day 3 and then improves till essentially gone by about day 10.
Will just do the 250 next time as it seems like test in high concentrations is a pain too.
There's something about shaving my ass and wearing a thong that is just wrong. Love to lift. Love to be strong.... But c'mon If I shaved my body, put on a fake tan, and sprayed myself down with Pam I wouldn't be shocked if someone pointed out that it was just a bit GAY. Just sayin.
I'm on Starting Strength right now.
I'm finding it quite a bit faster than 5x5 as a novice-intermediate.
I will likely movie to a Bill Starr or a Texas method next.
The "squats and milk" has a certain appeal but S.S. is so productive right now that it's hard to imagine putting on...
Every time I add 500 calories above maintenance to my diet I gain weight, get stronger, and have to add another 500 calories to my diet.
Can't I just take a pill instead? I'm tired of eating.
I kind of like the Bill Starr Volume/Recovery/Intensity approach that covers all the bases and avoids this argument entirely.
I prefer to focus on strength and a big diet as a newbie (starting strength prog) as it works.
I'm not what's going to work best as an intermediate/advanced trainee...
