Today- I witnessed dedication.

got one at my gym as well. he will do pullups to anything taller then him, swear hes in his mid 70's, has lats down to his shorts. I know this because of the cut off shirt he wears.

So why didn't you go up to him then?
Dude....this was a year ago and I can't even remember his name let alone what he was lifting. It was definitely above 5 plates a side though.....I do remember being in awe of him because I was lifting 4 plates at the time and he had more than me on his bar.

I didn't go up to him because I don't make it a point to go upto anyone lifting in the gym and staring at them lol...We struct a conversation because he approached me asking if I was in high school (I was a Junior in College at the time so imagine how awesome that felt).

Anyway, apart from his DL which I clearly got wrong, he gave me a lot of injury prevention advice which I liked. He talked all about foam rolling and hip mobility stuff and shared some of the stuff he used to do as a kid. He also spoke a lot on progression and how to be able to gauge your body and visual focus, etc.

Lol! Gotta love when people do that! I agree, regardless of whether he was lifting 225 I would still find that damn impressive for a 75 year old man.

Exactly. That was the fucking point of this meeting...not to judge whether he deadlifted 750 as he claimed or whether he was bullshitting and only lifted 650. Who cares....he was an interesting person to meet and I think for someone who had been lifting weights for over 55 years he had a wealth of information which I most definitely wanted to tap into. Knowledge is power.

im all about respecting life long trainers, no doubt. but making ridiculous claims of world record strength at 75 defeats the purpose of the thread. i train with a bunch of over 50 monsters all geared up and they throw weight, but nothing close to 750. last week they were pulling 545. that realistic for 50s. keep it believeable.

so this 75 year old guy would be number 5 or 6 in the world. sorry, calling all bullshitters. this is bullshit.

I think I'm missing something. Is that for an M4 class or something? Just as an example, Ed Coan pulled 901 when he is not on that list, nor is Bolton, or just about the entire group I train with who all average over 750 for reps.

Here in WI, we have HS kids that have records higher than 680.

I don't mean to take over the thread or be confrontational at all, I truly am confused.

i did a quick google for top 220 pound deadlifts. my point wasnt the list, it was saying a 75 year old dude pulling 750 is bullshit.
