Whats torn?
Thanks

I'm the very last thing in the world from a radiologist. So what you're getting is medical advice from a guy who peddles medical products for a living.

With that qualification, it does look like a complete tear of the ACL.

Look at your PCL image (the second image). See that little black band that connects your femur to your tibia going from the upper left to the lower right? That's your PCL.

Now look at your ACL image (the first image). You should have a similar black band that runs from the lower left to the upper right. But remember, that could just be a bad sectional view of the MRI as well.

Did the tech prepare those sections for you to hand-deliver to your physician?

He gave me a disc with 7 groups of sections for my personal enjoyment and another was sent to my dr. I have an appointment with him tomorrow. From the pic I have seen of torn ACL's they show no black at all. I thought the black that went from the lower front to the upper back was my ACL?

Here's what an intact ACL looks like. Your ACL and PCL criss-cross each other between your Femur and Tibia.

See that broad, black band?

It's hard to tell by those two pics. I'd need to see from a complete series.

The PCL looks A-okay to me.

I had to learn to read this shit for assessing semi-annual MRI's on my lower back (lumbar). My neighbor is my spine specialist, and he told me how to read them, what to look for and everything else. I spent a few hours a week for a month while he gave me private radiology class to try and help me read my scans so I can view the progress of my degenerative disk and log it. Of course, I still go in on official visits with him and tell him what I think I am seeing, and he will correct me or agree.

blah blah blkah, amyways, it appears as if you are ok in one slide (PCL), and the other I can't quite tell, but I am not versed in knees, so I can't say for sure.

Ask him about the starting of arthritis as well. It looks like you possibly have some slight development of that, but I could be wrong. Just ask to be sure. (I'm busting your balls, your bones look healthy.)

You dick I was thinking sun of a gun now I am getting arthritis in the knees! This sucks. Whats funny is all the years I played tackel football. Started on offense and defense, KR, KO, PR, Punts and I never even came close to hurting my knees.
I was joking with some guys from the gym who are all aspiring BB'ers like me and they were telling me how bad there knees were and I was thinking what a luck dog I am.
Now I am not so lucky! LOL
Thanks for the joke buffguy!

Thanks for the humer buffguy!

WOW! Buff must really like you

Mr.Plunkey wins!
1. Torn ACL
2. Minimally depress fracture posterior lip of lateral tibial plateau
3. Posteriorly displaced posterior horn of the lateral meniscus likely with a complex tear
4. Moderate sprain of the lateral collateral ligament with mild medial collateral ligament sprain
5. Moderately large suprapatellar effeusion
6. Diffuse superficial and deep soft tissue edema of the knee

So I am off to the Ortho on Monday AM to set up surgery.
So no show for me this April.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Here's the really good news: Complete and total recovery from a torn ACL is possible. Don't delay surgery -- get it fixed ASAP.

The downside is it's an ugly recovery. You'll have to closely follow your doctor's orders when it comes to rehabilitation and exercise. In traditional protocols, you'll feel like you can do more but the tissue won't truly be ready. Patience, patience patience.

And there's one final gem: When it comes to bone pain, cold is your friend and drugs are your enemy. Being able to chill your knee down for 20-30 minutes at a time will bring you vastly more pain relief than oral painkillers will. When you leave surgery, you'll be loaded-up with painkillers systemically and locally. They do this so you'll feel confident to go home, because they want your ass out of the same-day surgery center. The moment you get home, chill it down and try to control the swelling. I've seen more people try to load-up on high power pain pills when the real answer is moderate amounts of pain pills (take them -- don't be a hero) combined with icepacks around the knee. The narcotics will screw up your sleep and constipate you too. For bone pain, cold is good and drugs are bad.

Had my surgery today. They wouldn't do a double bound hamstring allograph! So I went with basic petella allograph. Hope it is almost as good as the one I used to have!

Good luck with it. Just be patient and follow doctor's orders. This isn't something you can manage on feel.

Yes and thank you. I don't want to go back under the knife again. I also don't want to stretch the damn thing eihter.
