ECA can definitely be used in place of Clen. Some of the big guys on stage combine Clen/ECA and some downers. It's scary what some of them will do. But ECA definitely works very well and is a bit safer. I sometimes prefer ECA just because I feel so much better on ECA and it gives me more energy in the gym. Clen sometimes wears me out and makes me feel sick.
I like Hayez's cycle. Add Clen and T3 in there...DNP also is the best for strictly fat burning, but it's not needed because you will need to take time off from the gym and the risks are ridiculous. Is PGCL (I think that's the name) any good?
Test Prop/Susp, Tren, Masteron, Winny, Var, HGH, Clen, T3, ECA, NPP, and sometimes even substances like Anadrol can all be used for pre-contest time. Diet is really the #1 key because you can bulk on a "cut cycle" and cut on a "bulk cycle" if you have diet and cardio spot on.
