Given how many abortion doctors are killed (not that many)...

Women under those circumstances don't have problems getting abortions locally. I'm going to argue that you are against arming our troops properly in Afghanistan and Iraq because you aren't willing to give me a full automatic M-16 and my own rocket-propelled grenade launcher here in the US.

I can't believe people are making these arguments for what Tiller did. He did operate within the law, but what he specialized in was very ugly trade.

As I understand it, third trimester abortions are banned in most states? I'm a murderer because of the legal slaughter I helped bring to grown adults in southwest Asia. I probably helped killed more people in two days than every abortion Dr. Tiller performed and his two associates in their entire careers.

It might be a positive. Still, another great straw man attempt. When was the last time a mother of three requested a lobotomy? :)

We allow parents to pretty much do anything to their children as long as it isn't physically abusive.

It happened right about the last time a mother who truly needed a late-term abortion was denied one.

A mother with a legitimate need for a third-term abortion can receive one in any state.

Here's how people work the Dr. Tiller argument:

Some people need M-16's and RPG's. Our troops in Iraq need them to fulfill their mission and to protect their own lives. Some people (like me) want them just to screw around. So every time you try to deny me access to M-16's and RPG's, all I have to do is scream about how you want to put our troops in danger. But it's not our troops that get denied M-16's and RPG's -- it's guys like me who just want them and don't truly need them.

Having said that, I can't believe you don't support our troops. Aren't M-16's and RPG's banned in every state now?

Third trimester abortions are illegal in 37 states....just sayin'. That's according to Bill O' Reilly...It's a state issue...like the constitution delegates all non proscribed powers...Don't get me started on the commerce clause...

While I appreciate his financial success and the use of "wedge issues" to play the dim witted for profit. His positions are hypocritical...I enjoy watching him "name call" real journalists for "name calling" him while he name calls. :)

I have no clue what you two are talking about. With that being said, Dr. Tiller performed over 10,000 third trimester abortions. HE determined the viability of the pre-aborted. He's dead, I'm glad.

Yeah, but what you're "just sayin" is completely wrong. This is where you should be watching Bill O'Reilly yourself.

Here's a little knowledge for you. The supreme court has ruled:

* even after fetal viability, states may not prohibit abortions “necessary to preserve the life or health of the mother;”
* “health” in this context includes both physical and mental health;
* only the physician, in the course of evaluating the specific circumstances of an individual case, can define what constitutes “health” and when a fetus is viable; and
* states cannot require additional physicians to confirm the physician’s judgment that the woman’s life or health is at risk.

Look it up.

The elegant simplicity of Tiller's program was that a woman could show-up and say: "My boyfriend left me and I'm having panic attacks." Then after paying him $6,000, he would declare her mental health in danger. The physician co-located in his office signed-off on it. Now mind you that even under Kansas law, this person was supposed to be independent -- yet she shared his facilities, office staff and security personnel. How many abortions do you think she refused to sign-off on over the years? Yeah... I'm going to go with "Zero". The head of Johns Hopkins psychology department looked at Tiller's program and even he questioned many of the reasons he declared the mother's mental health in danger. Now stop and think about that -- how many high-ranking academic shrinks from non-religious institutions are empathetic to the religions right?

You're no more in favor of jamming a scalpel into the brain of an otherwise perfectly viable fetus than I am, but your hatred of the Christian right has jaded you terribly on this issue.
