what's the law on keeping stuff not ordered?

oh, then just call UPS and tell them to return it to sender. Obviously the seller was trying to do the right thing and fix the problem by sending you a new one. You should do the right thing and send it back. Just my .02

I had a mega seller on ebay send me a brand new sony vio laptop when I won a used 12" dvd player, the cost with shipping was $71. I emailed them back they sent me the wrong item and I wanted to return it. They said I waited to long to return it per there 4 (not sure?) day return policy. LMAO So I kept the $1500 laptop. Dumb bastards. Try and do whats right, and what does it get you!

yes, my thoughts also. i searched on the Rederal Trade Comission's website trying to find this, but no luck yet.
but that's a pretty shitty thing today considering this guy was obviously trying to make things right with rnch.

I sent it to him cause he is so cool. If you want to send it back you can but I would say use it in good health and hope you don't catch a terrible case of the clap as a bad karma thing. Or just use it like everyone else does when someone makes a mistake. Plus it prolly costs them as much to ship it back and deal with it as they paid.
What a quandry, I just order stuff never get it and still have to pay for it.

I said something he did NOT order. Fact is, he did order this. He just returned. That's a far cry from me never ordering a pocket pussy, receiving one addressed to me anyway and deciding to keep it because.............well, it'd be kinda neat and I never get laid.

But he should have gone through the proper procedure and made sure that rnch wanted a new one - an exchange rather than a return. it is my understanding that they just sent him a new one, and the new one was unsolicited.
Legally, I think rnch can keep the thing. Morally, it would be nice to call the seller and inform him of his mistake and offer to return it if the seller pays for shipping.
Years ago I ordered something from a company. After literally 4-5 months of waiting they finally sent the wrong item entirely. They wanted me to send the wrong item back at my own expense before sending the correct item. I refused; insisted on speaking to the head of the company who sent the correct item and let me keep the other. The wrong item was actually tanning pills (canthaxanthin) which I would have never used, obviously.

i emailed their website and tried to explain what happened.
i received a reply which said that any return had to be pre-paid by the buyer!
the first time i returned their DEFECTIVE unit it cost me $41.00 (not reimbursed!) via UPS to send it back to them...........now they want ME to fork out ANOTHER $41.00 to return THEIR mistake????
am I the only one who sees a problem here?

Same thing happened to me, I ordered a marble cheese cutter from target and got a VERY nice chromed pepper grinder full of white red and black pepper, I called and told about the mistake and they wanted ME to pay for it, I adv I was in CR and I had to pay tax and weight for the damn thing so I sure as hell wasnt gonna pay more, they let me keep it and sent me the right item
I also once ordered a curve perfume and 5x make up mirror on ebay, it got lost in the mail and I was refunded.... 6 months later it arrived 
Oh-oh.... I ordered an 8600m GT 512MB for my VC from ebay.... I received it last week, today I checked my mail.... and I get another one

I paid the video card with a debiot card I NEVER have money in, I only deposit for oline purchases so they wont be getting my money.... I don't even think they know what happened.... but I feel bad keping it... yet I shouldnt have to pay like $50 to send it back internationallly.....
the seller did send me an ebay generated email asking me to revise the feedback i left for the initial purchase. since they sent me a free unit i did moderate it somewhat..
LOL.... well... I think it would be the gentleman thing to do haha....
