Cats suck. You should trap them
Feral cats keep the local rodent population down. Killing cats during the witch hunts is probably what triggered the Black Plague. If the cats are feral and a nuisance there are agencies that will remove them and either destroy them humanely or neuter them, vaccinate them, and drop them off in areas where they are useful pest control.
