Why is it so important to change peoples belief. People have fought and died so we can have the freedoms we now enjoy. If you choose not to beleive in GOD so be it but let me have the freedom to choose my faith and don't try to force yours down my throat.

Really, I've been married once in my life at a tender young age with all the idealism that entails...What marriage are you on? How many bad decisions have you made? I've never hit a child, let alone my own...You beat your own child for years and call me the psycho? I used to support your child beating position until I read the academic literature. I'm partially fucked up from the beatings my mother administered and partially fucked up based on trying to reconcile them with morality;However, thought and reason brought me back to the rational world.

I don't know anyone that fought and died for a three month limitation on abortion or a prayer mandate for schools. The Treaty of Tripoli that was approved by congress states "The United States is not a christian country." That's the only piece of legislation that takes a particular religious stance. BTW, you being able to worship your chosen god doesn't mean you have the right to take my money to promote your bronze age bullshit.... publicly mandated prayer to Yahweh. No atheist has ever entered a church and forced their non-belief on anyone. Just like I wouldn't force palm readers, horoscopes and other charlatans to stop their practices. Stupid is as stupid believes....I would never interfere with the right of stupidity for a non loved one...even then, I would give my case and let them believe what they would...I'm not an authoritarian that thinks my every belief must be held by everyone else in my society.

I completely agree.

It is encouraging when a community bonds together and says NO we will not tolerate certain behavior as acceptable and will shun you when no remorse or rehabilitation is shown. People only allow that stuff to flourish around them when they don't care about the community they're in and enjoy watching it crumble.

Shunning is a natural response that's not wise to ignore.
 
Sadly, the anonymity of web forums frees some to partake in some pretty egregious behavior. However, studies suggest that that the strongest inhibitor of online aggression isn't the lack of anonymity, but the act of maintaining eye contact.

Ponder that for a moment. Humans have a lot of compassion, but even across this diverse group we know bad genes and who needs to be shut out of the social/economic/courtship process.

That's huge to me. It makes me think nature has shaped us even better than you'd think.
