I lose all three of my workout partners during Ramadan.
During the summer months, when the window to eat is so narrow. It's virtually impossible to workout -- you can't even drink water while the sun is up. So once the sun goes down you'd go to prayer, then eat.
But Ramadan is much more than that anyway. It's their month to get close to God. No sex (except with your wife when the sun is down). And even when the sun is down, the goal isn't to down as many protein shakes or catch up on as much eating as you can. The point is to deny yourself and my workout partners most certainly do.

I didn't even think sex should be happening after dark. My ex was Muslim..it was a long month.

Hrmmmm... two of them are married (Jordanian Sunni and Kuwaiti Sunni) and they still have sex. My best friend of the group is also the most religious and he wouldn't touch his GF during Ramadan.
Now I'm starting to wonder if there are variations from faction to faction. Was your ex a Sunni or Shia?

Sunni I believe, from Pakistan. But he went to the extreme during Ramadan because he didn't live the faith the rest of the year, which never seemed to make sense to me and I really didn't think that's how it worked. Could be too that we weren't married. I'd get a hand shake and sometimes a bro hug of sorts
