theyve called in mental health providers to talk to the teachers about how to help the kids process it for the ones that know about it

I think this highlighted some flaws in safety measures already in place

I was out the checkout like in whole foods and saw the Chicago tribune with a head on what new security measure would have to be put in place to be safe. Like man some of these school here are already borderline prisons. Metal detectors, cameras all over the school, security forces.., growing up, my schools were never like that. Doors were locked and u had to be buzzed in, that's it. No issues! What more security can we have in schools? Taser bracelets? Some high tech security system where certain parts of the school close down?

You should see here in FL, trying to access a child in school is like pulling teeth, about a month ago I had to see a little girl just to take a photo to update her file and I had to wait about 45 mind, I had all my badges, ID's paperwork authorizing me in behalf of DCF/state and they still called the counselor, the principal, some regional counsel dude and who knows who else

all the facts will come out eventually. until then all the chickenhead reporters will run around with their heads cut off

With all the cutback an down sizing of alot of police , instead of laying them of off or getting rid of them assign a police officer to each school, kind of like a security liaison !

I would just like to say my heart goes out to all of the parents involved and parents on EF. I am not a parent and can't imagine the additional stress and worry this has caused all of you. Yes, I have nephews and nieces that are like my kids but its not the same.

It hurts me to think about those kids having to return to school eventually and how hard it will be. It is horrible that the kids left behind had their childhood stripped away and were forced into adulthood so early by this.

they are getting cut back because of budget reasons, having them in school will still take money

Has the security presence disminished the bank robberies by itself (regardless the other security measures)? The answer is no.
Do you think putting a security guard in every single kindergarten will help to avoid these crimes? A guy with a 9mm will face a guy with an ak47 or a grenade? Really?
Do you want your children to grow in a country where a SWAT (if you think the 9mm-guy is not enough) HAS to be in every single nursery, in every single high-school? The rest of the world thinks that what are supposed to be in a school are teachers.

PS: oh, just a curiosity. When my parents were living in Missouri they got their first car in the States. As a present they got an AK47... no one asked if they had kids, no one asked if they had police records in Europe (they did check if they had in the States)... if you think that's normal... if you think than when you open a bank account in Texas you're supposed to get a weapon... well then everythink's ok. We'll keep reading threads like this every 3 or 4 months...

a grenade is completely illegal and unlikely (though not impossible i guess).
and having a trained firearms professional in the building, while not a gurantee, greatly increases the chances of the children (esp considering that most of these wackjobs are not trained in the use of firearms) in a situation such as columbine or sandy hook
and i'm not sure what you are trying to infer with the missiouri/car/ak47 thing...i have owned quite a few new cars and never have i recieved a ak47 or anyother sort of firearm for doing so
