They're doing really well.
The wife lost a fair (but not terrible) amount of blood during the procedure and her platelets were low going in.
So she's light-headed, weak and has headaches but it's getting vastly better by the day. We've got full-time support from an incredible midwife from 9pm to 9am, so she gets to sleep.
I'm ready to get 2-3 days past today. The good news is the children are doing incredibly well. I'll post a few vids soon.
hope Mrs Plunkey feels better soon

Since the typical American these days is 40lbs overweight, has $50,000 in credit card debt, and takes 3 long-term medications (including at least one anti-depresant) I'd say the American dream is seriously derailed.
People need to stop expecting entitlements and take responsiblity to manage their own lives.
That guy is 100% dead-on accurate.
From the article:We shouldn't focus on wealth inequality. That will always exist.
In the last 30 years the share of national income held by the top 1% of Americans has doubled; for to the top 0.1%, their share has tripled, he reports
We should focus on opportunity equality. There will always be some, but we've screwed-up the mechanism that lets the mighty fall and the meek rise.
1) Dismantle our nationalized public education system. There isn't a scenario we could try that would be any worse than what we have now.
2) Engage in insane amounts of deregulation. For 50-person or less companies, let's wipe out 98%+ of the regulations. For 50-250 person firms, lets wipe out 80%.
.3) Radically re-engineer our tax system. Let's be other countries' tax havens for a few decades
4) Downsize our gubment at least 75% (I'd prefer more)

Our parents went to school on the G.I. bill, graduated debt-free, paid cash for a car, bought the house they needed, saved and bought their dream home at retirement.
We go to college on credit, take out a loan for a car; buy as much home as our credit will allow us then wonder why the hell we can't save for retirement.
I'm thinking seriously about buying a home on the dark side of town (still a nice area) simply because I could get a nice home well under $100K and sink $25K into reno.

People who used the GI Bill earned it. You can still earn it, or do ROTC or a service academy. Full scholarship to college. I got it, saved 44k x 4 years.
