I need tips on salad making

I would like to here from people that make their own salads at home. Also information on things like how long does lettuce last after you cut it, toppings or dressings you use, other do's and don'ts, etc. Thnk you!

I buy the "Veggie Lovers" in a bag already cut up, I put a can of tuna in a "Cool Whip" bowl hand full of Salad on top cut up a chunk of cucumber a few tomatos, and a hard boiled egg or two, take to work top with pepper and greek salad dressing (right before eating) and chow down!!!!!!!
